i was spooling the reel for the first time when the level wind just stopped moving. it stops and starts intermittently. 20 quid worth of braid in the bin as it tangled when spooling. absolute crap

So far I have not been able to use this reel but everything works smoothly. Very impresses even with the price tag I would say value for money

Easy to reel in line and use thumb as a breywhen spooling line out

The reel was usable, but not particularly good. I used for trolling from a sailing boat. I catched a 18 kg tuna with it. But apart of that I catched some small fish only. After few days ago I realized that the line guide stopped working, but a later it was usable again. Yesterday I had a massive bite and the guide stopped permanently. Result: I lost a big fish, my favo lure, and a lot of fishing line. My old penn senator 4/0 (made in USA) is way better then than this product. I regret very much choosing this bad product.

Nice reel, but lacks long-term durability. The non-metallic internal gear will strip easily if you exceed the maximum drag while reeling, so if your line gets caught on something and you try to reel it in, you will strip the gear. It is easy to replace, but it should be made out of stainless steel. Another issue is with the worm drive. There is a tiny pawl that engages with the level wind system's worm gear, and if it isn't fully engaged, it will wear out the two little prongs that contact the worm gear, causing the level wind not to work. If used in salt water, for which this reel is designed, these reels must be thoroughly rinsed after each fishing session with fresh water. Salt away is even better. When properly maintained, these reels will last a few years when used regularly, but they must be cared for and serviced. There are similar reels to this in about the same price range that are not nearly as good, which makes this a good option at its price point. I recommend purchasing one larger than what you'll need. I use the LW30, which is capable of catching fish up to around 50 pounds, so it's perfect for ground fishing.
