Got these for a kid school project making a wheeled float from a shoe box to make a play on words for a "rootbeer float". Looks like real ice-cream. They are very hard. I wasn't sure what to expect for the texture but I doubt you would need to split these for any reason. They worked perfectly on the float and my son got an A+.
