Canidae Pure Limited Ingredient Premium Dry Cat Food, Real Salmon Recipe, 10 lbs, Grain Free

My vet had me buying a super expensive brand of hydrogenated food claiming it was all my cat could tolerate. Well it smelled horrible, had super big pieces and my cat ate just enough to survive. I weaned her off her current food and eased her into this one and she has been doing great. No more skin issues and the smaller pieces mean she doesn't up chuk all the time. I have to guess it tastes good because she keeps on eating it and I have the exact same food for my dog and he loves it. Canidae is also a bit pricey but it is worth it for the quality ingredients.

I have A LOT of cats. Seriously I run a small cat shelter in my home by default. I’m always trying to find an affordable cat food that’s still healthy, edible, nutritious, I flat refuse to feed carnivores food that doesn’t have meat as the 1st ingredient. I used to find this on sale at PetSmart sometimes & would get so excited, knowing it was a step up from their usual food. Once I found it on Amazon, this has become the regular food. I get a bag of the chicken & a bag of the tuna (for chubby cats), mix them together and haven’t had a single cat turn their nose up. Literally I’m talking about a dozen cats so I’d say if you haven’t yet, give it a try! If yours won’t eat it, I’m sure you can find some strays or a shelter to donate it to & move on to another flavor. The tuna smells pretty stout so that might encourage pickier eaters. I prefer not to feed only tuna because I don’t want to encourage snobby eating habits if I can help it. Good luck!

The Canidae product from Amazon seems ddifferent from the Canidae sold at pet stores. For the second time in 5 months we purchased a bag of Canidae Grain Free Chicken from Amazon. For the second time in 5 months both our cats got sick, and eventually refused to eat this product. The first time that this happened, in January 2018, the cats were sick for a few days. After taking the cats to the vet, we eventually put both cats on a medical diet for a few days, and both cats got better. Not knowing what had happened, we decided to dispose the Canidae we had bought from Amazon. We bought another bag in late April, and as soon as we gave it to the cats, again they were sick, with one of the cats refusing to eat it from the beginning. Since out cats have been eating Canidae bought at Petco for 2 years without a problem, we purchased a new bag at Petco and tried our luck again. It worked perfectly, the cats started eating again, and neither of them got sick. The pebbles inside the two bags seem to be a different color and a slightly different shape (more rounded and flat the Amazon's Caniday, versus more squared and thick the Petco's Canidae). Whatever the reason is, this was the last bag of Canidae we purchased and will be purchasing from Amazon. Please, be aware.

These are wonderful the first few weeks but break down very quickly.

I love this brand both dog and cat food is awesome! Our cat has the prettiest and softest hair, he is shinny and healthy and the price compares to other expensive brands. I recommend this brand to any dog or cat owner!!

My cats are determined to make my life a living hell since buying this food. They will not rest until I have sated their desire- which is to rend open the bag upon arrival and allow them to attempt to eat all of it in a single sitting. Their gluttony knows no bounds and I live in fear that one day they will finally turn against me to eat more of their precious salmon kibble with no chicken by-products. They've even turned my greatest supporter among their ranks to their cause in the name of eating way too much of their tiny fishy crunchies of joy. They cannot get enough! I must stop them from getting enough! My post here defending the cat food from the cats to keep them from making themselves sick is more important than any one of us and it is my duty and honor to serve the cause no matter what the future holds for me. Tell my family I love them.

Good Ingredients, But Kibble Is Too Small and Hard I like that this cat food has limited ingredients and real chicken, which is great for cats with sensitivities. However, the kibble pieces are extremely small and very hard—too difficult for my adult cat to comfortably chew. It might work better for kittens or cats with strong teeth, but it just wasn’t a good fit for mine. Appreciate the quality, but wish the texture and size were more cat-friendly.

My cat I think has an allergy for everything. He was throwing up after every meal for probably a good first eight months of his life, even the vet couldnt figure it out. I think eventually narrowed it down to a poultry allergy and a grain allergy. A lot of cat food brands I would go through would always say fish, but would always have some type of grain or poultry product in the cat food. Somehow after around 8 months of searching, i finally came across this magical bag of food. Reading the ingredients I knew they had to be legit. He's been eating this food for around a year now and no throwing up since! Poor thing would literally would throw up after eating anything for the first eight months of his life and since this food no issues at all!
