Wonderful brushes!
I’ve tried so many different brush brands, with different hairs, etc., and have never been completely satisfied. Until now. I am so in love with this brush set! They have the perfect balance of firm/soft, they don’t shed (yet), they have super comfy (and long!) handles, they hold just the right amount of paint and release it well. It is an absolute pleasure to paint with these. Thank you for making such a great brush, I am one happy artist now :)

Great Brushes, and customer service!
The media could not be loaded. I'm really glad I bought these ZenArt Artist Choice Brushes. Not only were they a new experience for me, having barely used animal hair brushes, but they were a fairly strong set. Initially, I was a bit concerned due to the largest brush, the number 12 coming with bent bristles, however it went back into shape pretty easily when I washed the ZenArt upon receiving them. As per the instructions on the back of the packaging, while washing away the glue that serves to protect them, I found that they shed a bit. Which is fine, as most new brushes do. However, while cleaning them I found that the big size 12 and 8 brushes had loose ferrules. It wasn't a big deal and didn't have any affect on use. Now, aside from that when I went to paint with them they were great! A bit scratchy, and stiff, but I'd say those are good qualities for people that work with oils or heavy body acrylic paints. Personally, I chose to paint a Totoro dice tower I 3d printed with some acrylic paints, and a lovely painting of a set of lungs. In my adventures with these brushes, I found that they would hold paint very well, clean up was pretty easy, and the length of them made it so I didn't have to lean in really close if I didn't want to. They were fairly comfortable and didn't cramp up my hands, plus they look really nice. Over all, I think these Artist Choice brushes are really great. I do think that if possible, a brush guard would be beneficial for keeping the bristles safe in transit, I know they came in individual sleeves but the brush guards would add an extra layer of protection. I'm going to keep using these brushes as I paint in the future, and look to ZenArt for more brushes as well.***I did reach out to the company, and they were very helpful in their efforts to remedy the issues with the size 12 and 8 brushes. They offered to send replacements, and when I got them I found that they were very sturdy had no loose ferrules and the bristles were not splayed or anything. Upon use, I found no issues with them. They work perfectly fine and seem to be of great quality! *** I definitely recommend trying these brushes out.

Love these brushes
I love these brushes. They are my go-to brushes as I paint. I love how they feel when you hold them, and how they glide with paint. They also hold a good amount of paint. I would recommend.

Good family company behind the product
My review applies to using these fine brushes with Acrylics. Perhaps the performance will be different with Oils.A. Pros1. Fine quality of handles.2. The Badger Mix hair is very nice and holds paint quite well. I really like 3 in particular: Angle (8), Round (2) and Detail (00). The filberts and flat are also good.3. Overall good selection of brush mix, although I have a personal recommendation for the seller (see below).B. Cons1. The Chungking Hogg hair does NOT do well with water! They may be better with Oils? With water they tend to a) shed, b) curl, or c) split up. The Seller was very responsive in replacing some defective brushes. For the Chungking Hogg brushes I had to cut the bristles to make them shorter and tighter for use with acrylics.2. See my suggestion for improvements below.Recommendation for Seller:1. Create two sets of the Renoir collection: One for use with Acrylics (use only Badger Mix) and One for Oils (based on the current set).2. On the acrylic set I would add: 1) Angle #4, 2) Round #1, 3) Detail #1So my ideal set for acrylic would be this:1. Detail 002. Detail 01 (add)3. Round 01 (add)4. Round 025. Filbert 046. Filbert 087. Filbert 128. Angle 04 (add)9. Angle 0810. Flat 0311. Rigger 0412. Fan 03 (or 04)13. Flat wide 1"14. Flat Angle 1" (add)All these in Badger Mix. Remove the spatula, any decent artist already has one. The flat angle could be so cool to get a paint background going...As I said, these brushes are quite nice and I would definitely buy them again.

These shed
Bought these because of the great reviews but I'm not happy at all. Using with acrylic on canvas, I had to stop every few minutes to carefully pick off all the bristles the brushes were shedding! Each brush was the same and it was becoming so inconvenient, I reverted back to my regular brushes which weren’t quite the right shape for the job but at least they didn’t ruin my picture. Will be returning to my regular online shop where the prices are a tiny bit higher but the quality is worth it!

THEY KILL BADGER TO PRODUCE THESE BRUSHES
I am utterly terrified. I bought these as they had great reviews, and realised only when they arrived that they are made of badger hair!!!! How on earth is this allowed!? I've just googled it, and these poor animals are kept in cages and then hit with a wooden stick in the head?! I mean why on earth do you still use animals for these products ? Isn't good quality synthetic good enough??Shame on you!!!!

Three brushes snapped before I used them for a month.
These are nothing near student qualityThese are cheap poor quality brushes. They are similar to ones people bought me from The Works Cheap Bookshop. The hair comes out, the shape of the brushes is terrible before use, the hog hair is soft and the hairs are not put in the ferrules evenly.I’m guessing amateur and beginners are leaving good reviews because these are probably the first hair brushes they have used. Only someone who has only known those plastic handled small synthetic brushes that come in kids 99p ‘watercolour’ sets would think these good. They are terrible. How the company has the cheek to say they are wanting people to have the best products at affordable prices I have no clue. They are selling cheap backy made flimsy brushes and advertising them as professional brushes. No these are a total rip off. Do not buy.I do not recommend

Very nice for the money.
I can always update this review, however upon recieving these brushes I am very happy. They have good spring and look a nice quality. The holder is very nice and the magnetic parts are a very convient way of closing the wrap in comparison with other brush holders I have had with a tie I find this more useful. They are a nice light wood, they do not feel heavy to hold, and are a very good length.I have to say at the discount price of 50.00 instead of 100 plus I am exceptionally happy with them, I think for the amount of brushes at full price even you would get a good deal considering some other brands charge 20 plus for one brush, and comparing there is not a noticable difference in brush quality.I shall update when I have painted with them, but upon recieving and inspection they are a nice set of brushes for the price, and an amateur would be more than enough.I am a professional and I am quite happy for these to sit alongside other branded brushes in my studio.

True to their word.
These looked great when they arrived but when I started to paint in oil, i was constantly removing loose hairs from the canvas. ZenArt contacted me regarding this issue were apologetic and offered me a replacement. Even though it was only a few brushes that had a problem, they replaced the entire set. They also let me keep the old set as a good will gesture. Having faith in a company's after sales service is very important and this company has impressed me with their no quibble approach. I would have no problem recommending ZenArt and hope to do business again.
