Blanchard (of course) is one of the creators of the "Situational Leadership" model, which speaks directly toward evaluating a person's competence+commitment (their "Development Level") on performing a specific task, and then outlines the leadership style the leader should take in managing the person. The key to using Blanchard's SL-II (pronounced es-el-two) model is to remember that an individual's development level is always goal or task specific. The person being managed could be an enthusiastic beginner, a disillusioned learner, a hesitant worker, or an accomplished performer, and the SL-II model will immediately give the manager the correct leadership style to use. The book itself is a quick read, something that will probably take the reader no longer than an hour or so to digest. Review: Best text on Situational Leadership I've read - Blanchard's text is quick to read with plenty of excellent examples and a well thought out approach to presenting and understanding of the phases of teaching/leading others from directing through coaching and support to full delegation. This text is required reading for all of my new managers.

Good review of different leaderships
I picked this book up on sale as I had read one minute manager a few years ago and was interested in reading about leadership. This was a good quick read and thought provoking. I'm interested in trying out these concepts.

A Classic Update
How do you improve on a classic leadership book? Update, refine, and republish. And that's exactly what Ken Blanchard, Pat Zigarmi and Drea Zigarmi have done with this signature book and concept. This update reflects our constantly changing technology and globalization, respects cultural diversity, and fine-tunes the leadership communication process. The authors rename the three skills of the situational leader, and add six leadership conversations. These help to clarify what to say, ask, and do and when. Situational Leadership II concepts also serve as major tools for the development of emotional intelligence. One comes to expect excellence from anything The Ken Blanchard Company produces, and this update is no exception.

Helpful I its context
Great book for leadership styles. In my opinion much of this is executed in an organic sense than a formal sense as the book suggests. What bothered me about the book was it gives off the air of "if you just follow these steps you will be a successful leader". There is much more that goes into being a successful leader than what is provided in this book

Libro que todo manager con un mínimo de autoexigencia y ganas de ser buen lider debería leer. Muy fácil de leer, esquemático y útil para poner en práctica.
