A: The sales info says that if you place your hand in front of your remote and this stops it changing tv controls then the simple remote will work on it.

**Q: How can a blind person know which channel she is on when she turns the TV on? Does it default to channel 1 or go back to the last channel?**
A: For my family member who suffered a stroke l programmed the small black F button for number 1 from the original tv remote.
So should they ever ‘get’ lost among the hundreds of TV channels a simple press of F button brings them to Channel 1 which for us is BBC1 
Also we found that the last channel you were on when switching off that was the one it switched on to on a Samsung Tv using the Red On/off button
