The Ryuteki is a traditional Japanese flute made from durable resin, designed for high pitch and loud sounds, making it an essential instrument for court music and noble performances.

## Description

Ryuteki is a kind of Japanese flute and produces high pitch and powerful sounds. This instrument is often used to play outside and can make louder sounds. Unlike shinobue, it has bigger blow hole and a lead near the blow hole and the produces powerful sounds with many overtone. The sounds of ryuteki is often compared to the cry of the dragon as its name suggests (ryuteki means dragon flute in Japanese.). This ryuteki is made of resin based on the excellent prototype. Because this is made of resin and mass-produced, it is very reasonable. Compared to bamboo ryuteki, it may be slightly thick and heavy. But, given the price and sound quality, this is the best choice for beginners.

This item is comparable to a plastic (Western) recorder: the sound may not be as good as a traditionally-made ryuteki, but if you put in the time you will definitely learn how to play it. Even though I played Western flute for years, I found this flute not so responsive at first but after a few weeks I got the jist of it. One must consciously think not to use vibrato or tonguing as in Western flutes, and the use of the middle finger joints versus keys/pads takes a bit of getting used to. Too, it takes alot more air to produce tones versus other wind instruments. I would not hesitate to purchase this item again, as it is an economical way of acquiring and learning the ryuteki.Ultra-fast shipping from a company I have dealt with before!
