CIPA 49402 Oblong 4” X 5.5” Stick-On Convex HotSpot Mirror

It is a lovely mirror and is even bigger than I expected once I got it in my hands. I use it at my desk to watch for prying eyes behind me, works like a charm! The convex shape allows me to see my entire cube opening behind me and I managed to somewhat hide it between some books on my shelf. It does feel somewhat cheap and is mounted on thin plastic so if you need a rugged application, this may not be the mirror for you. I also wish there were some adjustable mounting system available rather than just the flat surface adhesive. Pros: Good size mirror Very clear Convex shape makes for good sight lines. Cons: A bit flimsy if you need it for heavier applications Only mounts to flat surface out of the box.

My wife's Chrysler Pacifica had a collision with a tree branch which tore the mirror off her Passenger Side Mirror. This mirror is an inexpensive temporary fix! (Replacing the entire mirror assembly is expensive >$1000). Pluses: 1. Very good wide image with no need to adjust angle 2. Easy to install with supplied double-stick tape I glued the edges of the mirror with Clear Silicon Sealant to the mirror housing. Others have commented that the tape does not hold well.

After the passenger side mirror was shattered in a parking lot for a second time in a month, I glued this on top of the busted mirror. Given other reviews about the weak adhesive, I used a gel superglue. So far so good. The bonus is a better view than the OEM! 2009 Vibe GT - YMMV

I got this for my office cubicle to avoid being scared out of my mind when people come up behind me. It works perfectly. This is better than some of the other similar mirrors out there because it is nice and big. So, the image of the intruder is large enough that it catches my eye. I had a little round one before, and the image of the intruder was really small, and sometimes I didn't notice it. I love this mirror.

The mirror itself is excellent—clear, well-made, and exactly what I needed. However, I have to agree with other reviewers about the quality of the included double-sided tape. It’s very weak. I was able to peel it off the back of the mirror with almost no effort, and the sticky side barely had any tack to it. To ensure a secure fit, I ended up using my own heavy-duty 3M double-sided tape to attach the motor to my RV’s side mirror. Once that was done, the installation was solid.

I have bad anxiety. And lately I have had to move my desk and chairs around where my back is to the doorway. Heck to the naw... ain't happening. I bought this not sure if I was just being paranoid, but reading many of the reviews I am not alone with this fear or anxiety trigger so I wanted to take a chance and see what happened. No one enters this room without my noticing them. Problem solved. No more checking behind me, over my shoulder, or anticipating entry from threats or pranksters. I see them coming. And this mirror is to thank for it. I will likely upgrade this to a similar sized, but larger reflective output mirror later, but this works well. I can't read phone screens or books or even see shirt letters or words unless they are directly beside me, but I don't need it for that, I don't care about other peoples problems anyway, I have my own, so their data is safe from my non-prying eyes. But I can see them. And that's what matters. No more pranks or Gibbs-slaps from idiots. I couldn't use the sticky tape, so I put some packaging tape together, taped it to the back of the mirror where it stuck out about a quarter inch, then tacked it onto the wall. I now have an airhorn beside my desk, and when they slap/prank me, I blast the air around them... they don't come around much anymore; and if they do, they announce themselves before I even see them. And I am okay with that! I am thanking the mirror more than the airhorn... but the airhorn is a great compliment to this.

Save your money. Adhesive failed. I cleaned my mirror and attached this unit to it, but I found the hotspot unit shattered on the ground in less than 10 days. Cheap product can't even stick to its own adhesive tape. The two adhesive stickers are the only thing remaining on my right mirror. I guess you get what you pay for.

For about $2, this convex mirror is a great value. This glass convex mirror has very good clarity. For this price, I was expecting something like a Mylar coated plastic mirror. This mirror is also convex from top to bottom, not just from side to side. Basically this mirror started off as a 5.5” round convex mirror; the top edge and bottom edge were cut back to make it shorter. This mirror is also light weight. With the adhesive backing, it only weighs 86 grams (about 3 ounces). This mirror comes with two strips of double sided foam tape attached to the back side of the mirror. Each strip of double sided foam tape measures 1.25” by about 2.5”. You could use this mirror for SO many different applications where you need a small light weight convex mirror. The size and field of view of this mirror would be perfect for use in an office cubical to detect people coming up behind you. Ideally you would attach this mirror to the top or side edge of your computer monitor. I’m going to use mine to construct a long handled mirror for inspecting the gutters on my house.
