Who makes kirkland's solid white albacore

I defer to the first 2 answers in terms of who packs for Costco. However, I also won't buy any other brand of albacore; it is simply the best.

What Are The Benefits Of Using This Product?

Simply put the taste never mind solid white meat. It doesn't look like cat food like some store bought tuna does. I've even eaten it plain it tastes so good. Try it, and if you are a real tuna fan, I'd be shocked if you ever went back to anything else.

Are the cans BPA free?

Have no idea what BPA is,,,,but nowhere on the can does it have these 3 letters listed as present or absent. Good suggestion is to contact Kirkland and ask. I can only tell you that it is delicious canned tuna!

Where is this Tuna packed? Does it say where it was caught and how? Thank you.

I am looking at the can and it does not specify where it was caught or how... that I am able to discern. The ingredients list says: white tuna, water, salt, and pyrophosphate added. It is distributed by Costco Wholesale, P.O. Box 34535, Seattle, WA. 98124-1535--1-800-774-2678, www.costco.com. I found a lot of in on pyrophosphate at: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_pyrophosphate_in_tuna , it appears that this ingredient is added to: "to keep mineral crystals from building up on the fish (sodium acid pyrophosphate). Sodium pyrophosphate is used as a buffering agent, an emulsifier, a dispersing agent, and a thickening agent, and is often used as a food additive. Common foods containing sodium pyrophosphate include chicken nuggets, marshmallows, pudding, crab meat, imitation crab, canned tuna, and soy-based meat alternatives. " It appears that this is a common ingredient in canned tuna. I found some additional info on pyrophosphate at: http://healthscript.wordpress.com/2011/01/05/food-additives/That's about all I can tell you... a call to Costco might be a good idea if you have questions as to location of the catch and how it was caught or packed. Best tuna ever?

I'm 75 and have eaten a LOT of tuna in my life. When I was a kid canned tuna had NO fat in it. It was all chunky white with the can absolutely stuffed tight to the sides can with tuna. And it was affordable. Over the decade's inflation, cost cutting and limits had canned tuna showing more fat and less quality white meat. So, obviously the taste went downhill, and the cans got a little smaller. I even stopped buying supermarket tune because it was so bad. So, one day I started researching top rated canned tuna which had me trying this brand. WOW, this is seriously good tune. Maybe a bit more than you might expect for a can of tune. But consider; the can oz's and the absolute quality, the flavor (!!!) it's a no brainer for me! Could it be the best tuna ever?

My favorite!

This is my favorite and only tuna fish I will buy. When I lived close to Costco I would buy it all of the time. After I moved and Costco was too far to travel to I was happy to see I could get it on Amazon. The fish is packed in water, flaky and is very light in color. It doesn’t have a strong fish smell or taste. My family loves this tuna.

Only the Best of Its Kind

Well it’s discontinued so a review is probably pointless as any available cans are getting old. However, this is hands down best solid white albacore in water in can that I’ve ever had. And it will be missed. They should partner back with whoever harvested or something to get that back on market.

Best Albacore Tuna Value

Excellent quality and more quantity per can than supermarket tuna. The tuna flavor is sweet and delicious with no nasty aftertaste like you find in some mainstream brands. This is all white, solid meat from the core of the fish - - no scraps or dark pieces have been mixed in. I've been enjoying Kirkland Tuna for 10 years and recommended it to all my friends and family, many of whom have thanked me for the info.
