How many loads of laundry will these do?

There are several variables to consider. When using the twin dosing on the Miele machine, the hardness of the water, the size of the load, the level of laundry dirtiness and the temperature of the water selected all determine the amount of detergent that is used. Under our conditions we are able to get about 70 loads of laundry per pair of containers.

Before installation do you need to peel off the metal foil on the spout? I had been jamming it in with it on but am getting errors now.

what is the difference between 1 and 2.?When to use one vs the other?

You use them both at the same time. The wash cycle you choose determines which gets used.
