I'd actually recommend the newest set - The Mercenaries as the first one you get. In standalone, there are a great actions, a good repertory of characters, very good weapons and introduce the partner mode, so its basically a good game, some characters in standalone are just weak but very well designed for the partner mode. The good part comes when you fuse the two sets, its a great experience, you do some more things and make excellent combos, and have a lot of fun with your friends. So if you buy this, think about buying the Premier set.
