The Polar Express Electric O Gauge Bluetooth 5.0 Model Train Set with Remote

Great Job Lionel on a Wonderful O Gauge Polar Express Train. I cannot think how you all could have made it better at the price you sell it at. Sounds like a real Train (Choo Choo sound), the bell, the whistle, the movie sounds, the smoke, the headlight, the cars that light up, etc., are all Terrific. For those who are wondering if the O scale is worth the extra money, YES! Our sons have the plastic (larger scale) which is perfect for them as they have small children that love to attack it. But the O Gauge is mostly metal like the other Lionel Trains and the Engine is heavy. And thank you Amazon for making the price a little more affordable. It's Perfect and we cannot be happier! Thank you!

UPS dropped the ball on getting this train set here on time. I'm not going to penalize the rating due to this, even though I wanted to. The train set is well built, except for th plastic "railing" on the observation cart (last cart). The little plastic pegs that fit into the end of the cart almost broke off. Very flimsy! I recommend using small amount of crazy glue to secure it. I ordered an extra set of fastrack to make a bigger oval. Also included in the video is the holiday peppermint tank and the HOBO cart. The engine is pretty powerful. It is currently pulling 6 carts right now and still runs pretty fast. I tested the engine at full speed and it is FAST. I wouldn't recommend running it that fast because it might risk derailing. I did not use the included remote. Apple app has more function. I tested the smoke maker and worked just fine. You can control the smoke from the app as well. A train expert I know said make sure to turn off the function from the back of the engine when you're done using it or else it might ruin the smoke maker. This set was bought for my 11 year old son. I don't allow my younger son who is 7 to play with it. I don't recommend anyone younger than 11 to play with this set. Lionel recommends 14 years of age, which is too much in my opinion. I will definitely add more accessories like bridges and manual track switches in the future. Overall, I like this set and how well it is built. You can definitely add to it and will hopefully last for years if it is maintained and taken care of.

Very cool set based on the movie the Polar Express. Tom Hanks' announcements, train whistle and smoke generator work very well. Don't plan on using the app though and connecting via bluetooth. Seems the app has not been updated in a very long time, so long that it does not work with Android 14. The set comes with a very capable remote control though. Overall, a very nostalgic toy to help decorate the house for the holidays.

I have a special place in my heart for The Polar Express and have been watching the movie every Christmas since it the movie came out. I have been wanting a train set for as long as I can remember but I knew if I was going to get one it HAD to be the Polar Express.. It was pretty easy to put together and once you turn it on oh my it’s Amazing and I could watch it for hours. Looks spot on!! Now for the cons.. This set is extremely tempremental and slips off its track very easily. I think I had to fix it daily because of one thing or another that caused it to slip. It is also difficult to pinpoint exactly where it comes off track and you have to really look at it. So if you have animals, toddlers, or pets that may bump it this may not be the set for you. I love this set so much but I feel a lot of work goes into it…

Love, Love, Love this train set. I built a track around our living room. The details are amazing. I love how the train cars are lit up along with the bright headlight on the engine. The engine puffs smoke out of the chimney as it chuffs. We put two of the characters on the cattle Gaurd on the front. Then the conductor and the kid on the room of the train cars. The sounds and voices are loud and clear, The Bluetooth is wonderful. I can control the train via my phone, the response is immediate. I can control the volume of the chuff, announcements and sounds. It’s can be loud and proud or run quietly in the background. We watched the Polar Express Christmas morning while the train went around the living room. The kids absolutely loved it.

This is a nice train set and it generally works very well. I bought mine for Christmas 2019. But the smoke unit on my locomotive never worked, so I contacted the company in early 2020. I called and left a message, and I sent them an email through their website. They told me in early 2020 that they stopped taking warranty repairs during the covid lockdown. Ok, fine. No problem. Towards the end of 2020 and this year (2021) I've been sending emails back and forth and calling them. They said they would set up a warranty repair number for me and they never did. The only reason I didn't just make the repair myself is because the local train shop wants a lot of money to do the work and I don't know how to do it myself. So yesterday I gave up and asked Lionel what parts would be needed to repair the smoke unit and they promptly provided a link to their parts catalog. I guess I'll ask on a model train website how to fix it. What Lionel should have done is just flatly told me they were not going to repair the locomotive instead of saying they would for almost 2 years. This whole thing was just an irritating waste of time. I'm picturing a boardroom full of 100 Lionel executives in business suits, with charts and graphs, arguing back and forth whether they're going to swap out the $18 smoke unit in my locomotive. And company lawyers and accountants giving speeches about economic impact on the company if they give me a new smoke unit. The analysis and arguing going on for two years now.

I purchased this for my son for Christmas and the sound wasn’t working. My son is 5 and an avid train enthusiast. He was devastated that the sound wasn’t working. I reached out to the vendor and they worked quickly to resolve the issue. The train was returned/replaced and all is right in the land of trains. I recommend the product and the customer service.
