Works great
I was skeptical about this actually working to deter hawks from attacking my chickens. The hawks had been working together to corral the chickens for almost a month and they swooped down several times even with me outside. For $5 this ribbon was worth a try. I cut about 2' strips and tied them to the ends of the tree branches, my veggie fencing, the chicken run. They are annoying as heck! The material is very similar to a mylar ballon. It makes constant sound and reflects light even when there is very little wind. It's also the movement that annoys/scares the hawks away. It took about 3 days to get rid of the hawks. I bought some old school metallic pinwheels and those were a dud, they have to be positioned just right in order for the wind to hit them and make movement. Definitely would recommend!

Used in 2023, reusing in 2024 -- great stuff!!
This mylar, holographic ribbon worked really well in 2023 to keep birds away from my peaches long enough for them to ripen on the tree (from late July to mid-August). I tied the starting end to a branch, then strung and wove sections of at least 15 feet of ribbon through the tree branches to the other side of the tree and tied off the end on another branch. I had about 5 lengths of tape criss-crossing the tree, with big sections hanging much like one would string a garland on an Xmas tree -- you know, "scalloped" design. The tape sparkles in the sun, and any dangling sections make noise when the wind blows. When I removed the tape in 2023, I was able to save most of the long pieces that I had strung through the branches so I could reuse them this year. I'm in a hot, dry summer climate, and the tree gets morning sun, some afternoon sun, and frequent breezes and wind. I hope this helps

perfect for keeping hawks away but a little noisy in the wind, also not tape, it's a film
A few months ago I purchased this reflective film, and while it has performed admirably, I must mention that the use of the word "tape" in its description was somewhat misleading. This product is not tape; it's a film. Despite this minor hiccup in the product description, I found it to be straightforward to install. I used this reflective film to create a protective barrier for our chickens and ducks, as we've been dealing with numerous hawk attacks this year. I must say that it works remarkably well, comparable to using fishing string. The film is sturdy and well-made, demonstrating its resilience during severe weather conditions, including thunderstorms and strong winds, even in the face of Michigan's recent tornadoes. An interesting approach I took was to twist the film into a spiral pattern when installing it. This not only prevented it from acting like a sail in the wind but also created multiple angles for sunlight reflection, enhancing its effectiveness. While I plan to continue using this reflective film in more remote areas of our property, I'll stick with my 10 lbs fishing string closer to the house due to the noise created by the film in the wind. Overall, this reflective film is a reliable and robust solution for deterring hawks and protecting our poultry. I would have given it a 5-star rating if not for the misleading "tape" terminology, but its performance is undoubtedly commendable.

This is NOT sticky just ribbon
NOT actual tape - this product is NOT sticky. This is basically just ribbon. Still works great for scaring birds and other animals but not what I expected when ordered. Wouldn’t have bought if had known it wasn’t sticky.

Great for woodpeckers
This product works for woodpeckers if you put it up and leave it long enough to blow in the wind. You need to put up several strands on where you don’t want them, but if you do it right it will scare the woodpeckers away! It saved our deck!!!

Waste of Money
I saw a lot of mixed reviews about whether this tape works or not. IT DOESN’T! Please do not waste your money on this. I did extensive research to see if I should take my chances on this and I’m disappointed that this tape did not work whatsoever. I have pigeon dung/nests on my balcony. More than before, that is. It’s almost like the birds like playing with the tape. DO. NOT. BUY.

Love it
I love this tape I have it all over my yard and it is worth every penny this is where you need to put your money no more shiny pie plates hanging in the yard the size is perfect it's not too big and bulky the design is perfect makes it shine when the light hits it very easy to use the quality could be a little bit better but it's outside in the weather so the durability is probably perfect

Keeps woodpeckers away!
We are super happy with this product. Just FYI - it is a very big roll of thin tape, with no adhesive. Those are all good qualities in our opinion, though others have complained. We cut 18"-24" strips, put a little tab of silver duct tape on each end, used a small nail to attach the strips about 2' apart along the side of our house. The duct tape at the nail end keeps the tape from ripping off the nail. The duct tape at the other end gives a bit more weight so that the fluttering in the breeze is perfect. And like I said, there are yards and yards of tape on the roll, so even if we ever need to replace any, there will be plenty for years to come. We put these up in the early fall, and and they've lasted throughout a cold, windy Iowa winter with no problem. But the biggest thing is - the woodpeckers have stayed away - which is the whole point!!! They were trying to destroy our siding, and we were so frustrated - until now. The silver strips fluttering in the breeze keep those persistent little woodpeckers away.
