Are the bristles hard or soft? Will they hurt my cats?

Are the adhesive strips strong enough by themselves or would I have to use the screws as well? I rent and can't damage the walls.

We used screws, but if the kitty is small and doesn’t put too much pressure on the brushes the adhesive would probably be fine. Our guys are big and I have a tripod who used this as a way to scratch where his missing leg should scratch. He used it like it is a tree!!

Why can't i return it to amazon? i ordered it by mistake. i want to return it to get my money back after receiving it.
