Shreds really well so it can't be easily pieced back together. Fairly noisy in use and really thin paper does struggle to activate it.

We bought the Rexel X8 to shred our mountain of paperwork that we had collected over the years, we've been using the shredder for a while now, it's not bad and does a good job of getting rid of confidential paper waste to secure standards. I wouldn't put in more that the recommmended number of pieces of paper, if you do this, it can become to much for the cogs inside and you will damage the shredder in no time if you keep over-loading it. Having fixed a number of types of shredders at work over the years, people putting to many sheets in at once, is on top of the list for damaging a shredder. If your using it continously, it tends to over-heat and you will need to let it cool down, this is a shame as this puts it in the home use catogory, rather than a busy office in my humble opinion. But it does do a great job of if you looking at occasional use through out the day, you will not be able to put a document back together after it's been cross-cut to secure standards Yashima

***Updated after three months use*** Not much use, the blades seem to have blunted after just a few months. The unit clogs after every two or three sheets and so you have to stop, remove the head unit and pull the pieces of paper out that haven't cut through properly and so haven't dropped into the bin below. It definitely can't handle more than two sheets of regular A4 paper at a time. It's not far short of useless so we're having to replace it. Needless to say it won't be with another Rexel! The shredder is quite efficient, cutting paper up into small pieces. It's fairly quiet too. The cutter is not too heavy to lift off to facilitate emptying of the basket beneath. However, this really is only for light, occasional use. If you have more than a few sheets to do at one time, this is probably not for you. It says it can handle up to six sheets at a time. I doubt it, the thing struggles with just two so I'm just doing one sheet at a time. After ten to fifteen sheets the basket needs emptying, otherwise the paper cuttings bunch up and block the cutting teeth completely. For the occasional letter or envelope, it will be fine. For more than that, I'd say look elsewhere.

The shedder work well enough. However, it becomes frequently even though I use it a maximum of 3 sheets at a time. The stated the maximum sheets at a time 6. Good luck, if you try that!!
