Good Product for Its Intended Use
Purchased our home last summer in New England and finally getting around to tackling the neglected brush on an embankment in front of the house by the road. Invasive buckthorn and nuisance maples are the most common concern. This chain system works well on plants that grow in clusters like buckthorn or maples that have been cut down multiple times but regrow out of or near the old stump. I was borrowing my neighbor's before I got mine delivered and actually bent the smaller ring that was attached to my pulling chain (attached to my 4x4 F-150 longbed) when getting too aggressive with a pretty beefy, well-rooted maple stump, so be reasonable. If you're pulling with a 4x4 truck and the thing doesn't budge, you've got to expose and cut as many roots as you can to loosen it up, applying a running-start shock load will break your hitch or this tool or both. As the pictures show, it's a choker chain system, slip the end with the smaller ring through the end with the larger ring and cinch it tight. If you try to choke around a single sapling or a few really slick slender ones in a bunch, the chain CAN slip off. You can either use the brushgrubber clamp tool thing, or a tree popper, which is an expensive but useful tool sold by another company. Alternatively, if you have two people who trust each other, one person can gently step on/apply downward pressure to the chain as the other person gently gasses the truck/atv used for pulling to keep it seated low on the job. Used that technique a few times with my neighbor.

It works pretty well
I'm absolutely delighted to share my experience with the Brush Grubber BG-19 Heavy Duty Clump Grubber! This tool has proven to be an lifesaver when it comes to dealing with stubborn brush and stumps. Its gripping teeth provide an incredibly secure hold. I was amazed at how effortlessly it uprooted even the most entrenched stumps the only issue was traction. Whether it's for land clearing or simply maintaining your outdoor space, the BG-19 is a must-have. It has made a noticeable difference in taming my property. If you're seeking a reliable and efficient solution for brush removal, the Brush Grubber is the answer you've been looking for!

Works great
We were able to pull some decent size trees. Grips good contrary to what some people said. Gave it 3 stars because it broke after went through about 15 trees. I should have bought insurance so I could get replacement. Kind of waste of money. It’s a little heavy but it has to be. Recommend for pulling up trees. It holds on but wasn’t as strong as it looked.

Easy to use
Very easy to use, grip small saplings in a bundle if they are close enough together. This is a very efficient tool to own if you have small 1” - 2” trees growing on your land near a fence where a bush hog can’t access. Plus it prevents regrowing by removing roots.

Does not work on "clumps" or brush
I was disappointed with this purchase. I specifically bought this item because it appeared that the added v teeth on the chains would "bite" into thin branches of brush and pull them out. we had about 15 ft of privet hedges to pull out. After trying to use the brush grubber multiple times, we resorted to digging the bushes out by hand. The chain would not bite onto the bushes and kept slipping off. I can imagine that it works well on larger bushes, but so does a $30 tow strap. If you want to remove brush, this is not the best tool.

works great on Asian Bittersweet, other invasives
Love it. Use it all the time on my farm to rip Asian bittersweet out of trees. I've also used it to skid downed logs out of a forest, though a logging choker chain is the right tool for that job. Not really designed for very small clumps of slippery weeds. I've welded chain hooks to the top of my bucket and my grapple, so I can go from front-end-equipment to a long logging chain, and then the logging chain hook can grab right onto the circular ring of the grubber.

Great Idea, Poor Execution
Watched a few videos and read the reviews. Seemed like a reasonable product. Took a chance and ordered one. First chain came right on time (thank you, Amazon) and looked like a winner. Took it to my property two-plus hours away, snipped the manufacturers tag from one ring, and went to run it through the other as intended. Guess what? Either one ring was too big or, conversely, the other too small. Huh. Good thing pulling some brush wasn't the only thing I was prepared to do. Got home, started the return, and having faith the replacement would be okay, I ordered another. Received the chain during the week and headed back out to my property the next weekend, ready to get some brush and (very) small tree sapling stumps pulled. BTW, I checked to make sure the rings would pass through when I received the replacement. They did and I was good to go. Got out to my property, hooked up the chain and got started. The thing worked great. Until it didn't. After nine (nine!) tiny, as in way less than the diameter of my forearm stumps about eighteen inches tall, the largest ring sheared and looks like a corkscrew. Looking at the interior metal of the ring, the material appears to be cast, not forged, an obvious, and dangerous, weakness at the point of connection. Ever see a chain break under horizontal load? They whip around and there's no telling where it will go. Not as bad as a steel cable but still enough to truly injure or even kill a person. The failed ring caused the chain to shoot skyward and land on my fender. All I suffered was some dented/scraped sheet metal, fortunately, but it could've been worse. Much worse. Would I buy this product again? Absolutely not. The idea of teeth on the chain(s) that grip the stump/brush/whatever is awesome. The low-end material it made of? Garbage and renders an awesome idea worthless. For me, this product is a hard pass and most definately NOT recommended.

Works like they say... just read the instructions as there is a correct way to wrap it around a shrub you want to remove...otherwise it may slip off.. so just follow their instructions.

Heavy duty chain that works well with tractor. It need the right size bush to pull effectively. Tends to slip off, ride up stems on many stubs and small trees.
