The Eminence in Shadow, Vol. 3 (manga) (Volume 3) Paperback – March 22, 2022

I got the fourth volume some time ago, but put off reading it until now. A sign I was losing interest in the series? When I started in, I realized why I was so impressed with the first two volumes and the third does not lose pace. Once again, Cid is up to his old tricks, trying to pass himself off as a slightly pathetic background figure to conceal his more dramatic nighttime activities. Indeed, Cid seems to be doing an homage to superheroes like Zorro and Batman. This time, the school is attacked by people who are able to block the magic of students and faculty. It falls to Cid to save the day, with the help of the foster daughter of one of the school officials. We also meet a young student who is a promising swordswoman. It is a well done, action packed volume and The Eminence in Shadow is proving to be one of the best new series of 2022.

Man, the MC just knows how to make me laugh! It's so funny to have a main character that's so overpowered, but he uses to do good deeds (unintentionally). Daisuke Aizawa, another great installment! Can't wait for the next volume!

The manga itself is one of my favorites easily, that said I'm docking a star not due to the manga itself, but the number of pages in the volume. I mean, it is a product review and not necessarily a manga review, the book itself is the product.Basically, out of the 20 Manga titles I currently collect, The Eminence in Shadow has the 2nd highest cost per page over its available volumes behind Solo Leveling (but Solo Leveling has heavy, color pages). I was bored at work so actually calculated it out in a spreadsheet.I love the manga, but the price hurts a bit when I see how thin the book is compared to most manga I buy, especially when this manga seems to be harder to find going for under MSRP.

Another addition to this great series!!!!! I can’t wait to read more! I definitely will recommend this awesome manga series!
