Works great – but it should come with a power source
This RCA-to-HDMI converter has allowed me to view old 8mm home video tapes on my television which does not have RCA inputs. It delivers good quality images (as good as the original tapes did in the past, at least), and while some of my older tapes don’t play well, that’s because of the age of the tapes (dating form the early 1990s) rather than this device. I do wish it came with a power source, though – I had to purchase a power brick with the appropriate 5V/1A output in order to use the device.

CRT Gaming with an Emulation Device
It works as described. I was able to connect my Odin 2 (emulation handheld) to the device, which allowed me to play my retro games on my 32” Sony CRT TV. That said- a lot of devices will not output at your CRT’s resolution, and will look funky. I had to adjust the scaling in retroarch so my games would fit the screen perfectly, which it did after a little testing. There is zero lag, and the sound works just fine. I used the S video option as it tends to look better, but I am sure using the yellow cable would look just as good. Knowing all this, should you buy this item? Well, how nostalgic are you? Did you grow up on CRT TV’s? Do you even own a CRT? If you are nostalgic and want that authentic experience, then yes this is a great device (remember you have to do some tuning in your emulator/device). If you don't want to own a chunky TV, then just emulate and use shaders as it’s the next best thing.

RCA to HDMI adapter
Bought this for my EDC tech bag. I had gone to an Airbnb and I always have my tech bag with me in case they have an old style TV for me to stream and they did. This easily gave me the capability to connect to HDMI. Setup is as simple as plugging the RCA cables into the TV and connecting an HDMI cable to the adapter. Sound and visual quality are perfect for streaming practically anything.

Didn't work
I wanted an HDMI to composite (RCA) converter to connect a Roku Express to an old Panasonic Triple Play TV. The first one I ordered (different brand) had a push button to toggle between PAL and NTSC, and it wouldn't hold the NTSC setting. So I ordered this one, which has the yellow composite video connector as well as S-video (my TV only has composite). Unfortunately, I can't get a signal with this one. It makes a periodic strobe of video (a stripe of white flashes horizontally across the screen) and left audio channel (something in between a low-medium pitch beep, and a buzz), at a frequency of somewhere between once and twice a second. I tried both sets of input connectors on the TV, and could actually hear the device making a noise even when it was completely disconnected from the TV. I put the other device back on (the one I had been planning to return) and found if I kept the toggle switch depressed, it would convert the signal properly after all, so this one is the one going back.

Works well. Cables fit well. HDMI cable is a bit stiff.

Effectively adapts an RCA output component (DVD, VCR, etc) to an HDMI input device (TV, monitor, etc. ) Only works in one direction, RCA to HDMI, not the other way around.
