Mother has copd. would this be good to test the air in the house for her breathing? will it detect mold?

I am no expert to this kind of measuring device but this is my experience. I have the S1000+ model. it measures particles and VOC(chemicals, in general) this device is very sensitive to particle changes in the air and VOC. I bought this because I have asthma and is triggered by certain air freshener and dust. I check all the bottles at home and found the VOC reading for my laundry detergent extremely high. To be on the safe side, I threw it away and is now using baking soda for my laundry. This device gives me a good general feel of how polluted the air is for the day/night so that I can close up all the windows and doors if necessary. I am not sure but I think this device does not detect mold if mold is not measured through VOC.

The device can detect the number of particle in the air. But it can't tell whether it is mold.

Does it detect Carbon Monoxide?

The AQI measurement selection measures the Air Quality Index which comprises 5 major pollutants (combined as one numerical reading) including dust, CARBON MONOXIDE, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. So the answer is, to some degree, yes but no as to the actual CO concentration. This tool seems to be very consistent with all measurements and even measures particulate matter in smoke. I love it and use it around the house and outdoors.
