I wear a women's size 9.5 in gym shoes (Nike, Brooks, Vionic, etc) and these socks in Medium fit perfectly.

I'm pretty surprised how nice these are, given the lower price point. Very comfortable on the sole of the foot and with ample cushioning in the herl/ankle area. I recently bought some much more expensive socks to wear for running from a brand name- and so far I'd say these are equally good quality. Once I've washed them a few times, I'll update.
