This is my second Shark vacuum cleaner - I thought the first one did a good job, but this one does a great job. The suction is incredibly powerful for such a lightweight vacuum. It does a good job getting up dust and pet hair, too. The self-propelled feature is also powerful, maybe a bit too powerful because it wants to move quickly. The cord length is ample. I wish it had more tools - it only comes with three. I have used the removable handheld vacuum as well as the floor stick - both are easy to use. My only minor complaint is that the dust bin is a little more difficult to empty - the release lever doesn't open and automatically "dump" the contents. You have to pull the cup open which requires two hands. I do recommend this item.

Where to start??? First off, cordless is fine but has it's own issues such as battery life, charge time, and battery longevity (they stop holding a charge after a while). Eventually they hold such a short charge the product is unusable. Buy new batteries. Yes.... Because a cordless stick vacuum isn't expensive enough as it is. LoL!! So, having to plug a vacuum in is far from an inconvenience. Also, having a corded motor means more power, more suction. The Shark HZ2002 Vertex stick vacuum is a MONSTER with a whopping 380 watt motor and a 30 foot cord. It has dual rollers in the head (which is a powered head to add). One at the rear with bristles and the front with a polymer rubber fin design. So it's abilities to scoop up debris from laminate floors, linoleum, hardwood or any hard floors is flawless. Vacuuming kitty litter and afraid of getting 500mph granular projectile blasted back at you? No fear. The HZ2002 Vertex doesn't let a single morsel out of it's vortex. It sucks everything in and nothing escapes. As for carpet, the suction is also unparalleled by any vacuum on the market in this price range. My carpets look brand new. I was ready to rent a bin and chuck all of my area rugs. The Vertex HZ2002 had such an incredible impact on these carpets because it lifted deep dirt and tracked-in debris with it's impressive suction power. The triple air filter system is another bragging point. Easy to clean, and recirculates the exhaust air without worry of blowing dust or allergens back into the air you are breathing in. In addition, this vacuum is GREAT on pet fur that gets dug into the fibres of carpet and furniture. It comes with a smaller furniture head as well as a bristle fitting and a long tappered hose for hard to reach, tight spots. What else? It is VERY maneuverable and agile. The LED lights on the front are awesome and bright. The canister SEEMS small but it is perfect. And super easy to clean. Cordless vacuums have to conserve power so the head on them is powered by air flow and gearing which is inferior for proper suction. This vacuum has restored my faith in companies again. I started to think everything in this world was low quality and overpriced gimmicks. Thank you Shark!! I will be a loyal customer for the rest of my days if you keep delivering phenomenal products like this that work flawlessly. You raised the bar in the vacuum industry.

We bought a Roomba a few years back. And it is a pain. My wife loves it, I... (feel like I shouldn't say this as a gadget hound but) but I find it a hassle. I wanted a simple way to get cat hair out of the rugs without having to get all the cords up, block all the places Roomba can get lost, etc. I thought I'd need an expensive vacuum. Nope, I just needed this. Got the corded model courtesy of Consumer Reports' recommendation (both on corded, and on this model). It's cheap (cost-wise), seems very well made, has tons of power, can suck up cobwebs, seems to me to work as well as my parents's old Oreck that I also loved. Light in the hand. Dealing with the cord really isn't a challenge as it's so long. And no battery to run out. One concern I had was keeping it in a corner self-standing, as it is top heavy. You remove the top portion and there's a clip it sits on. It sounds strange, but if you're worried about it it's actually really simple and then stands fine in a closet or corber. The attachments are also really good. Very well thought out machine. Only complaint - there's nowhere to store the pet hair attachment, and it's all one piece. If it ever breaks (and eventually it will get a hair clog or something in there) there doesn't appear to be any way to repair it. I love having it, it works well on the couch but I anticipate one day having to buy another from Ninja/Shark. At the price, it's really not a big deal but it's worth a mention.
