A knife that does its job well and it’s easy to walk with

I have purchased other SOG products; therefore I am familar with their high quality, along with value pricing. This knive will be utilized by myself as a boot knife attached in the hard kytek sheath with soft nylon straps to my leg just above ankle. The nice thing about this knife was low price about $35.00; therefore if I misplace or lose this knife, I won't be out big bucks. The SOG fixed blade knife is extremely light-weight, but also durable and makes for a great leg/ankle knife. Ideal for camping, hunting, fishing, and general use.

Came very sharp by most peoples standards. I spent about 10 mins on the 1500gt. diamond stone and then leather strop and now it shaves the hair off my arm. The thermoplastic rubber handle is nice, a little grippy, comfortable, and it's just a little bit soft which makes it very easy to grip, should work great with wet hands, the handle length fits my 4" wide hand as if it was costume made for me. The metal pommel with it's teeth will come in handy for pounding on things like tent stakes etc. It is nicely balanced right at the front finger hold. The thumb grip area at the top of the blade is a bit aggressive, a little time with a flapper sanding disc will fix that up in short order. The glass reinforced sheath holds the knife firmly but not tight enough to carry inverted. This knife is for my Get home bag so I will be using the sloths for attachment to my bag, it also has accommodations for paracord attachment as well. The belt clip is nothing fancy, should work well on a belt, maybe not so great on just the waist band of your pant's. or pocket. For under $30 it's a great knife.

This is a well made medium sized camp knife. This is the first SOG knife that I have owned that was not made in the USA. It was not sharp out of the box. This was a surprise because I expected perhaps other blemishes but a knife that appears to have been used to cut electrical cords was not expected from SOG. Ten minutes with Sharpening stones and a leather strop put things right. The edge holds well and putting it to leather between uses keeps it sharp. I use a 22 to 25 degree angle per side. The sheath holds the knife securely. I have it lashed to my backpack straps. I just don't trust the polymer belt hook.

Super solid knife. The shealth is the best part haye getting a nice knife with a garbage sheath.

Stamped metal has its drawbacks. Knife as factory sharp is good but it dulled in just a few weeks with non-hardwood and general applications (like disassembling cardboard boxes). I sharpened it to a more robust angle (less sharpness but more durable edge in theory) with a guard/whetstone and it still went dull pretty quick. Must be soft steel. Decided to toss it at a tree to see if it could at least be a throwing knife and the tang broke, because again, soft stamped steel (and one bad toss). You get what you pay for - including the tacticool vibe - and it *is* cool looking. Mid to low performance for a practical blade, even at this price point.

The knife is well made and good quality for the price. Sheath holds tight and is solid.

Das SOG Field Knife ist ein wirklich gutes Messer für die Preisklasse. Es ist zwar aus einen in China produzierten Stahl hergestellt, aber dieser hat eine vernünftige Qualität und Eigenschaften (Schnitthaltigkeit, Zähigkeit, Schärfbarkeit). Die Klinge ist ordentlich dick und der Griff wirklich sehr sehr gut und angenehm in der Hand, dabei ist es wirklich leicht!!! Ich weiß nicht was andere an der Scheide bemängeln?! Bei mir sitzt das Messer gut darin fest, wackelt nichts, fällt nichts raus. Wenn man sie an den Gürtel macht, dann sitzt das Messer wirklich etwas hoch, aber ich stecke den Klipp (auch bei anderen Messer, von denen ich einige besitze) lieber auf den Rand meiner Hosentasche. Da ist sie perfekt!!! Also, wer im unterem Preissegment ein ordentliches und robustes Messer sucht, der kann hier auf jeden Fall zuschlagen! MfG
