while the new section on digital stories and social media are really useful for me as a Photojournalism teacher
Got my copy today it was on pre order, while the new section on digital stories and social media are really useful for me as a Photojournalism teacher, the print quality is totally disappointing. To me the book appear more like a copied version from some original book, the title was faded with some damaged part on it, now fresh out of press are never like this. The paper and print quality inside is not friendly at all the print are very small and faint. The 3 star is for the print and damaged quality otherwise the content is all good.

QUINTESSENTIAL! Everything you need to know about photojournalism!
WOW! Having read and savored every edition of this iconic textbook, which has been used to train the world's top professional photojournalists since the 1980s, I can attest that Prof. Kobre has outdone himself!... This up-to-the-minute 7th edition is the biggest and best in the series, and that's saying a lot... It is truly a masterpiece! ...Each revised edition is more amazing than the last, but this one (with updates AND 10% extra content) is truly a crowning achievement… It's jampacked with so much useful information – including useful web resources and feedback from pros on current market conditions… It is amazingly comprehensive, covering in depth both the technical and philosophical aspects of contemporary photojournalism, using hundreds of compelling anecdotal and visual examples, which are as germane as today's headlines and the powerful images that accompany them... Thanks to editor/designer Betsy Brill, it all holds together visually, and is as beautifully designed as any prestigious coffeetable book.. It's so engaging just to flip through and savor the zillions of illustrative pictures – so many “hooks“ on every page… You don’t even need to be a photographer to enjoy the contents, but reading it certainly makes you want to be one! ... Even if you never pick up a camera, "Photojournalism" will make you a smarter and savvier consumer of news photos, which have become increasingly vital in this internet age ... I highly recommend this as the best resource for anyone who aspires to take better photos, or who simply wants to learn how to better assess and appreciate them... This is a superb title that is a joy to devour, with enduring lessons that will stand the test of time… And if you are, or plan to become, a professional photojournalist, then stop whatever you're doing and add this to your library immediately...

Excellent. Best single book on the topic
Before writing this review I read the review here on Amazon that is dated December 28, 2016. In it the reviewer complains about the production quality of the physical book that they received. All I can say for sure is that the copy I received had no discernible physical flaws of any kind - it was as good as anyone should normally expect. My guess is that the December 28th reviewer was very unlucky and received a copy that was well below normal / normative production standards.I read the previous (6th edition) of this book in December 2015 and was generally very impressed with the high quality breadth and depth of its coverage of the topic. Where I found it dated and needing an update was in the area of technology (digital camera equipment, changes in the what is available on the internet, how this all affects workflow etc) and in how the business has changed. I bought this edition to learn how the business had changed since the last edition and what newer technology's affect has been. Overall, I was not disappointed.I very highly recommend this book. Now for some nitpicks;- Some (a small percentage of the) internal page references (from one page to another page in the book) are incorrect and my guess is that the incorrect ones refer to the correct page in a previous edition.- The author talks about rechargeable AA batteries (p. 232) and mentions Nickel Cadmium batteries as if they are current state of the art and does not mention Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries at all. I can't remember what was the last year that I saw NiCd batteries being used but it was long ago. This section needs updating as NiMH have been the de-facto standard for a looong time now.
