Great repair for the price
I have an OLD dryer, but it still works. Heating went out and thought about getting a new one, but this repair was cheap and easy to do. All the parts are included, plus extra stuff I didn't need but used because it was old. For the price it was a great repair!

Short lifespan, simple install
This upgraded heater element arrived the same day it was ordered which worked out perfectly. It was on sale for $25 and it’ was simple to install only taking about 10 mins from start to finish. The only downside I’ve experienced is the products lifespan. This is my 3rd aftermarket element; the first lasted 3 mths and the 2nd lasted 6 mths. However, irregardless of its lifespan, it’s still cheaper than a new dryer.

Dryer wont dry? Cheap and easy fix!
My dryer stopped drying,I did some research and it pointed to the element being bad. Instead of buying a whole other drying,I decided to fix it myself. Easy fix,if you need help there is a video here and also YouTube. Fixed my dryer and it works great!

Inferior quality, DO NOT BUY, potentially dangerous
As others have reported, the replacement heating element stopped working after a few weeks. But I'm here to tell you EXACTLY what the problem is. 1. The resistance coil is attached to a metal plate that is TOO THIN. There are also a lot of large holes in the metal plate that were made to allow clips to be mounted. The resistance coil is attached to these clips, which appear to be made of ceramic. The OEM version has thicker metal for the plate, and the mounting holes are much smaller. The result here is that the metal plate begins to warp outward under the heat stress, most especially the heat stress coming from the coil, which sits between the metal plate and the metal mount on which the heating element is attached. Eventually, the metal plate warps enough that some part of the coil will touch the metal housing. Instant short to ground, accompanied by a tripped breaker and likely rupture of the resistance coil. 2. The resistance coil itself is TOO THIN, notably thinner than the OEM version. Among other things, this means that this coil will have more of a tendency to warp and will have a much shorter life span. I've included a photo of the heating element where you can see the carbon build up on the metal plate. The plate is easily bent with a little hand pressure and is flaking off residue due to rapid corrosion. When I opened the back of the dryer, you could see flakes of corrosion building up inside the dryer housing along the bottom. So understand: You have been warned. The OEM version came in a box clearly marked "Whirlpool Corporation Factory Certified Parts." To be sure, inspect the plate and coil and compare with the old OEM version if you still have that available.

High heat setting causes failure.
I've purchased several of these over the course of 3 years, almost purchased a new dryer, but figured I'd try a couple things first. I cleaned out my dryer vents in the back of the unit, making sure there was no obstructions. After that I put the new unit in and it blew within 2 weeks. This happened several times in a short period. I eventually decided to run these on medium heat only, never running the dryer on high heat. That resolved the failures, after switching to medium heat and never running it on high heat, I have had my dryer work for well over a year now. So if you are experiencing repeated failures try forgetting he high heat setting and making medium heat your setpoint limit. This saved me from buying a new dryer or experiencing repeated failures.
