Artelac Nighttime Gel, by Bausch Plus Lomb, Night Time Eye Gel for Dry Eyes, Long-Lasting Relief for Irritated, Gritty, Carbomer Eye Gel, 10g

I suffer from dry eyes and was told by my optician that I must use drops several times a day. I’ve now been using Artelac nightly before bed for a few months and have noticed my eyes feel moist and comfortable. This gel is far better than any of the eye drops I tried previously. If you suffer from dry eyes I recommend that you try it.

Artelac Night-time Gel is a great product to relieve dry / tired eyes. It effectively soothes and provides moisture to the eyes, in a way that lasts far longer than the traditional eye drops and soothing eye mist type products. The product comes in tube packaging, being much smaller than I thought it would be when ordering. However, it lasts a long time as a small amount is used per application. It has a short shelf life of 1.5 months after opening, for me the tube lasted around that length of time (with once daily use), so the size of the tube is not an issue really. The product is applied directly to the eyes, in the same way that eye drops are applied. However, it is a thick gel as opposed to a liquid solution. At first, this was quite odd as the gel ‘sits’ on the eyes and does not really spread throughout the eye naturally, but blinking a few times and looking around spreads the gel nicely. Saying that, vision is slightly blurred for a short while (around a minute for me) after application, nothing significant but worth noting. A slight issue is that application is a little fussier than just spraying the eye with a dry eye mist, on a few occasions I have ‘missed’ my eye and ended up dropping gel on my face! Due to the gel nature of Artelac, it soothes the eyes and prevents dry eyes for so much longer than eye drops. I have used various brands of eye drops and eye sprays, including products from Blink, Optrex and various supermarket / drugstore brands (the Tesco eye mist was surprisingly good!); this product has provided greater relief than all the others. Whereas most drops improve my dry / tired eyes for half an hour or so, Artelac lasts around 2 hours when used during the day. The product, though called a ‘night’ gel can be used throughout the day as required, as I discovered when reading the information leaflet provided (it can be used multiple times throughout the day but is marketed as a night gel due to the thicker nature and the fact that sight is blurred temporarily after using). Whilst the product is not perfect, with issues such as the blurring of eyes, awkward application and short shelf life once opened, the results are better than any of the drop / spray products I have tried. For this, I would highly recommend to those with dry eyes, particularly if more conventional products are not that effective.

Provides long-lasting relief, better than any other products I have tried but can irritate if used too frequently. My eyes are so dry and sore I had been using this 3-4 times a day for a year but suddenly it is stinging and burning. I therefore use several other non-preservative drops (none of which are particularly effective and I have to use very frequently) then use this at night only and sometimes in the morning and after 2 weeks the irritation to this product has pretty much gone. It stings more though when my eyes are already irritated from dryness during the day but then calms down and my eyes feel soothed. Nothing else has worked as well as this so I will continue to use in moderation.

I love this gel and use it during the day to ease dry eye.

3 stars because it does not work for me particularly. I need the oil based ones as I feel they have more lasting power. This just dries my eyes quicker

This gel is brilliant. I'd be struggling with very dry eyes, particularly in the afternoons, and as a contact lens wearer it was particularly uncomfortable; normal eye drops gave any relief. After using this for a couple of nights I was back to being able to comfortably wear my lenses all day into late evening. Easy to apply - a drop in each eye just before bed, it's not too runny that it goes everywhere or too thick that it doesn't spread across the eye easily. I've also been using first thing (at least 15 mins before putting my lenses in) which has helped too. No bleary vision after use. Will definitely make sure I keep using this, it's made such a difference.

l suffer with dry eyes l ust this every night it is very soothing and it works allows my dry eyes to stay moist most of the day have been using for over 8 years cannot be without this product.

Tut trockenen Augen, auch in den Wechseljahren, richtig gut. Hab, seid ich dieses Gel, vor dem schlafen gehen in die Augen gebe, keine Bindehautentzündung mehr gehabt. Absolute Kaufempfehlung!!!

Ha solucionado prácticamente mi problema de sequedad de ojos, tenía hasta escamas y los ojos super resecos, los párpados bastante mal. Y en una semana, todo ha mejorado bastante. Por la noche mantiene bien la humedad, es una sensación bastante agradable.
