will this fit a regular 5 gallon plastic water jug?

It does fit a five gallon jug but it doesn’t totally seal. I had to wrap the base with electrical tape so it would bubble. Not a very tight fit.

It does fit and seems snug but leaks at the seal. You’ll need some ingenuity “tape” to seal it up tight.
