The Essential Alice In Chains

Great cd!

Alice in Chains is one of my favorite bands from the Grunge/Metal/Alternative era. It's unfortunate, that Layne Staley has passed away. He was one of the greatest Rock N' Roll artists of all time. Layne and Jerry Cantrell harmonized together so well. The bassist and drummer's rhythm section was incredible. Alice in Chains was one of the best-sounding bands ever. I heard that their first bassist also passed away, which is a real shame. Rest in peace to both of them. Regarding their two double CDs, it's great rock n' roll. If you're an Alice in Chains fan, you'll love it. The only issue was that I was unfamiliar with some of the songs that were talked about. I haven't heard most of them. But overall, you'll enjoy it. Go get it and rock on! you will like it, Go get it! ROCK on!!!

What’s not to love about all the great Alice on Chains songs. Long live grunge! CD’s were in Excellent condition, great value. Layne’s voice is one of a kind.

This is an excellent compilation of the majority of Alice In Chains' Essential songs...with a few faults. The Good: Contains pretty much all of the essential AIC songs plus 4 non AIC album songs that are each fantastic ("What The Hell Have I", "A Little Bitter," "Get Born Again", and "Died.) Contains my favorite AIC song, "Rain When I Die". Overall, a great overview of AIC's career. THE BAD: As others have stated... The two glaring omissions are "Down In A Hole" and "Bleed The Freak." "Down In A Hole" is a truly essential and well known AIC song and it's very puzzling that they decided to include a song off "Dirt" like "God Smack" (not at all essential nor a track I care for) but not "Down In A Hole." I also really wish they would have included "Rotten Apple" which is one of my favorites and a truly fantastic AIC song. The 2nd disc has more than enough space left over to have included these tracks. Another fault is at a few points, the track list order is a little disappointing. Choosing to include "Would" as the last song on the 2nd disc doesn't sound bad but it would have sounded much better alongside the other tracks from "Dirt" on disc 1 or maybe as the opener on disc 2. Also, the 2 live tracks from the Unplugged album, "Over Now" and "Nutshell", should have switched places on the track list, since "Nutshell" was the first song they played in that set and you can hear the audience applause grow as the band members appear, yet they put the live version of "Over Now" ahead of it. Despite the flaws mentioned, this is an excellent compilation of the Layne Staley years of Alice In Chains. An excellent cd for the fan who wants a good solid overview of the band's career.

It came with everything intact no cracked case like I usually get when ordering a cd, sound quality is perfect and it was priced very good
