Good Buy
I know it's not just me...you fill your cart with all the items you've been eyeing but never purchase them. Save for later becomes the graveyard for all the things that didn't make the cut. Such was the case with this cleaver until that fine day when I decided that I was tired of struggling with the chicken 🐔, beef 🍖, and all the foods that required herculean strength. I am so happy this cleaver made it out of the graveyard! It's razor sharp and the perfect size/weight. I've spatchcocked chickens, glided through the gristle and connective tissue of shoulder roasts and am and all around kitchen master with my new kitchen companion. The cleaver is easy to use, well made and does the job at an unbeatable price. Highly recommend.

Top quality and very sharp
This is a fantastic cleaver! It wasn't the most expensive and I was worried I wouldn't like it, but it's absolutely great. The quality is first class and the weight is hefty. It's also very sharp. I'm glad I bought this for my kitchen and I've already ordered another one for a friend.

Great cleaver
This is a great cleaver. It is perfect for my needs. I don't use it to chop though. I use it on big cuts like chick breast. It's the perfect medium duty cleaver. Im glad I bought it. I'll never get rid of it.

Good Deal
I haven't cleaved anything yet, but I'm going to chop up 150 chicken wings later this week. But this thing looks easily up to the task. For the cost, I feel it was a good deal.

Large, well made, nice weight, would cut through stew beef to large elephant. Impressive stainless.
Bought this to replace a cleaver that I received as a gift 39 years ago. Its nice looking, stainless blade, SHARP, and much larger and well made compared to my previous. This can cut through stew beef to a large elephant. Too bad I did not read the instructions before I ran my finger along the blade to test sharpness, four stitches later. KIDDING! But I did read the instructions, something I normally do not do. Since I have not been writing reviews in a while (because I read them before I buy and thus usually agree w/reviewers so what more can I add) but will say I can’t see anyone not loving this butcher knife. But they wrote me and their email about their knives was so funny and entertaining that I felt I should write this. feel like a real chef using this. I have attached my old (bottom) vs my new (upper).

The Orblue Cleaver knife has just arrived and I put it through a two hour test in the kitchen. The test examined its strengths and weaknesses by cutting and chopping a variety of items. I did not test how long it holds an edge. All of my knives are honed before every use, lightly sharpened every week and fully sharpened every two weeks. If there is heavy use, the knife may be sharpened sooner. The Orblue cleaver is a great value priced knife and easily outperforms its cost. This is a very heavy cleaver with a cutting edge that has a slight curve, front to back. The back of the blade is flat with a bit of an edge where it curves up into the tang. The top of the blade is fairly uniform in thickness and has a wavy spot for grip just before the bullnose top front corner of the blade. The handle is triple riveted and is a hard material that seems fairly smooth. I started the test with frozen beef. I cut strips from both 1/2" and 1" thick frozen steak. The cleaver performed this test very well. The heavy cleaver and very sharp edge made powering through the frozen meat possible with resultant uniform cuts. Next up was slicing, dicing and chopping onions. This knife did a great job and the slight curve in the cutting edge made a rocking chop easy with minimal effort. Not a knife I'd use to clean vegetables in preparation for chopping, but it can do the job if required. Hard vegetables were next. I cut and chopped carrots and potatoes and this cleaver easily powered through a couple of pounds in a few minutes. This is, however, a very large knife and not ideal for cutting small uniform pieces. As with other tests, it will do the job if needed. Slicing ginger was next and as with the other vegetables, no problem. A whole root was easily reduced to matchsticks. Chicken wings were the next to last test. The cleaver easily cut the wing tips off frozen meat and was quick and easy to use. Finally, the cleaver was used to disjoint some chicken. It is not the most elegant tool for that job, but can handle the work and will power through bones if you miss the joint by a bit. Pros: This is a heavy, stable cutting tool. The grip seems good and sized for an average hand. It doesn't get slippery when wet. It should be easy to maintain as soap and water will handle the clean up of the stainless steel material and it won't need oiling. The weight aids in cutting tough material and the cleaver is robust enough to handle chopping. Cons: This knife may be a bit too heavy for some users. This is a significant knife. The handle is a bit small for large hands requiring one finger to end up against the back of the blade. While not normally a problem, this blade has a very square back edge giving it a bit of sharpness that wears during long use. The handle does get a bit slippery in the presence of fats and oils, but not normally a problem even when cutting meat, unless doing so for an extended period of time which allows the fat to melt a bit in contact with warm hands. Summary: One must not forget the cost of this cleaver when evaluating. It compares quite well with knives that are 2 and 3 times it's price. It might come up a bit short against truly premium knives, but is a great value and a good buy for most kitchens.
