Keep coming back to this one (updated)
Probably my 4th repurchase. Have looked at other US alternatives (to have backup options), even more expensive ones, and have not found an alternative that is mineral, as clean, fluid-like, and not tinted like a foundation. The neutral yellow color of this works well for me and doesn't leave a white cast on my light-medium skin. EWG used to have a visual scale showing that this was not only clean but also rated high for UVA, but now that they've switched to a system of "EWG verified" products, you can't see precise comparisons between products anymore. I have normal skin. I can tell I have this on my face (vs. having nothing on), but it's just the slightest soft feel and certainly does not make my hair stick to my face like other spf's. Dewy at first but then that goes away so that skin looks normal and moisturized. It goes well under makeup, and even without separate moisturizer it provides some moisture as a base to keep my makeup from looking dry. It's good with my pores. If at the beach with continuous sun on face, then I do reapply often. I always make sure to shake well and haven't experienced any separation issues. Don't notice a fragrance either. Very happy with it. I would like an alternative that is oil-free so that I can share the same bottle with my mom, but haven't found one good enough yet to replace this. Some oil-free, fluid alternatives are not as clean, have white cast complaints, or leave some iridescent glow. My mom who has sensitive skin and is picky in general is ok using this for now. Will keep buying/recommending! UPDATE: Educating myself and just recently saw the video by a PhD in chemistry talking about sunscreens, called "How mineral sunscreens are dodging laws" and it includes a minute on this company as well as EWG inconsistencies (EWG background and ratings are not as solid as I thought). I also saw a Consumer Reports 2024 report on sunscreen testing and the regular mineral sunscreen by Babo (not this face one) rated just ok. Not changing my rating here as this is an excellent product, but whether it's optimal protection is a different question. I will try to find more alternatives (especially with PA rating). Kelly Slater has a mineral one that looks interesting. I'm also considering (the least worst) chemical sunscreens now too, which don't rub off as easily while doing makeup or move during day. Will likely grab one when I'm in Europe, where there are more approved active ingredients and stricter standards (e.g. check on homosalate in the EU). Also nice Korean options out there, but if they are sold in the US then probably reformulated per US regulations; not sure I want to deal with the delivery time and potential unexpected cost from ordering from overseas in this political climate. Conclusion: will keep this product in my arsenal, but there's more out there on my radar now!

Great for pale skin
Based on the EWG verifications (product quality and safety testing) I tried the tinted version of this sunscreen. I found it a bit too dark for my very pale skin, so I ordered this untinted product. The color is unusual, a creamy pale yellow (actually, it matches the color of the container), but it goes on smoothly, dries fast and leaves a barely visible cast that disappears quickly. After using the untinted version for awhile, I find the faint color helps to even out the redder areas of my skin, so it’s a good replacement for foundation. All of these features are great by themselves, but the thing I haven’t been able to find in many other face sunscreens is sun protection—but Babo does it. I always burn, not tan, and after using this sunscreen for a month or so previous pinkness (sun damage) has faded. And Babo doesn’t dry out my skin like other high SPF products do. It has moisturizing qualities of its own but I use a light moisturizer first. An added bonus, this product is sheer enough that when I reapply in a couple of hours it doesn’t look streaked or cakey. No allergic reactions and I don’t mind shaking the bottle before using. I do appreciate that it dries fast and does not look greasy, even with a moisturizer underneath. Best face sunscreen I’ve found.

favorite sunblock!
I live in Hawaii and have to use sunscreen every day. I've tried so many brands. This one is my favorite. It has a great rating for non toxicity and it's thin and slightly moisturizing so I don't use moisturizer under it. I like the white and tan color... the white does show on face a little but not as much as many zinc products... but it also doesn't make your hats and shirts get that brown on it when you sweat or it rubs on your clothes and hat so that's the advantage of white over the tan. but the tan looks nice if I want to look better that day

Staple Sunscreen!
I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and this sunscreen is wonderful. It feels incredibly lightweight on the skin, the scent isn't unpleasant, and it doesn't cause any irritation or breakouts. I love that this is made with very clean ingredients. It is not water proof so it's best for every day wear but not trips to the pool/beach. I am very picky about facial sunscreens and this is one of my favorites!

It can’t get better than this
I have tried SO many sunscreens and as someone with sensitive/ oily skin, I find that most sunscreens just don’t do it for me. Then a few years back I decided to cut out toxic ingredients from my beauty routine which threw a big wrench in my SPF routine. I was so pessimistic trying natural after natural sunscreen, they all had a white cast, low SPF, or oily consistency. Then one day I looked into this sunscreen and noticed it has a distinct light, warm, yellowish color (very close to my skin) so I was hopeful that it might mitigate white cast. Well, I tried this sunscreen and was SHOCKED at how good it is! It’s better in consistency and application than the toxic ones I was using previously- I couldn’t believe it! No breakouts, no oily skin, no white cast, people constantly compliment my “dewy” skin and ask what “foundation” I’m wearing and when I say I’m only wearing sunscreen for skin they always want to know. I’ve purchased close to ten bottles of this stuff and I hope it stays in production for the rest of my life. This is such an important park of my daily routine and it’s truly irreplaceable.

Serious allergic reactions
I used this sunscreen once and had a serious allergic reaction to it—so bad that I’m 3 days out and still swollen, red hot, and incredibly uncomfortable. Prior to this, I loved Babo and bought this sunscreen (without checking comments) because they have a great line of products. This sunscreen does not fall into that category and I’ve now learned two very important lessons: always do a small patch test and always read reviews (even if you love a line of products).
