Very effective and don't hurt like the foam earplugs
I live in a VERY noisy area and rarely have a restful sleep without being woken up by traffic noise, leaf blowers, people yelling, etc. I started using foam earplugs but unfortunately they were really irritating and hurt my ears terribly. I figured wax would be a more natural material. These are great! They do take a few nights to get used to but they are soft, malleable, effective, and they don't irritate my ears. After reading all the negative reviews I'll say, the protective cotton is easily removed with some patience, the waxy feeling on my fingers from warming and shaping doesn't bother me and goes away quickly, they effectively block enough noise along with my white noise machine to sleep yet I can still hear enough important things like a fire alarm. (like I said, I live in a VERY noisy area but I'm also a very light sleeper). My only issue in the beginning is they do soften up throughout the night and were difficult to remove in the morning but I quickly figured out by reading the pamphlet that if I gently push up on my earlobe it helps to dislodge them enough that I can grab them and pull them out. The directions say NOT to shape them into cones but I do anyway because they block more noise that way and stay in better. Also, I find if I open my mouth wide while putting them in they work better and stay more secure during the night. I do that with earplugs I use when flying to help regulate ear pressure. I keep them in a plastic case next to my bed and I've been using the same ones now for at least a month without having to replace them. Do they look brand new? No Is there some earwax on them? Yes but it's my earwax so who cares! Side note* My husband doesn't love them because he says he can hear his heartbeat and it freaks him out but I don't find that at all. I can hear myself breathing but I actually find it soothing. I'll definitely be ordering these again when I need more unless I move to the countryside. LOL

Silence is Golden
Neat product that works very well. Pink wax nodules are perfect size for ears. Wax responds to your body temp and creates perfect seal. I was skeptical when I purchased these. The foam earplugs have never worked for me, they always fall out. I used Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs, Value Pack, 6 pr for a long time, however I never felt comfortable with them in and they would frequently break seal and fall out of my ears at night. So I was willing to try something new and user reviews seemed hopeful. These are more expensive, but they work. No earplug will ever completely block all noise, however these do the best job of reducing noise that I've encountered thus far. I find them tremendously more comfortable than the foam inserts or the silicone Macks. Additionally these are made from all natural wax, not foam or silicone. Currently priced at $9.95 (at the time of this review) there are 12 earplugs, which makes for 6 pairs, making each pair cost $1.66. These are re-usable for approximately 10 days, after which they become less stable, i.e. begin to fall out and/or break seal. Another reviewer noted that when they turn pinkish-white its time to replace them, and that was a spot on observance. I've noticed some reviews complain about the waxy residue. There is one in the morning, when you wake up the plug will be very soft from your body temperature and after removal it will leave some liquid wax residue on your hands. It doesn't bug me personally, but some people are sensitive to different tactile sensations. So value and time wise this product costs 16 cents per night of peaceful sleep, and total package will last you two months. They seem pricey initially, but I find them to be well worth the cost for their high performance and comfort UPDATE 6/18/12 This product is now being offered on Amazon with 2 packages for 15.98 with Prime - which is a substantially better bargain 2 Ohropax Wax Earplugs 12 Plugs for a Total of 24 Plugs with a Free Locking Pocket Case to Carry Daily Needs

More comfortable than foam earplugs. Not quite 100% noise reduction
I found out about these earplugs from a Russian friend. They are made by a German company, but the (brief) instructions come in English, too. I bought these because I sleep with a snorer, and hoped they would help me get better rest. They are better than the traditional foam earplugs because they sit on the outside of your ear canal... so they do not hurt after a few hours like the foam earplugs. They do not block as much noise as the foam earplugs, and feel sticky, but they are a lot more comfortable. To make sure you cover the opening of your ear canal completely, you have to heat them up in your hands for a while so they’ll get malleable enough to form into a flat plug. One ear plug can be divided into two (or four!) easily. And you can use them multiple times. The price cannot be beat. And they arrived in a nice little metal case. Each wax earplug is covered in a cotton ball, for easy handling. If you need complete noise cancellation, these may not be the answer. But if you can live with 80% noise reduction, and desire more comfort than a foam earplug, these might work for you.

Unhappy
I am a light sleeper who has been using ear plugs at night for several years. About 8 years ago I began using Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs with great results. However, I decided to try something new with Ohropax after reading the many positive reviews. I followed the instructions to the letter, and I immediately noticed that the earplugs were greasy and left my fingers uncomfortably sticky. The wax plugs were at first hard when I removed them from the cotton and difficult to mold. However, they did soften with a little work. Trying to get the small chunks of cotton off of them was also a pain. Afterward I found myself having to wash my hands to remove the sticky film left behind. The plugs stayed in at first, but one of them fell out during the night. Putting it back in was another sticky adventure. Throughout the night, I had to press the plugs back in several times to keep them in place. I noticed that when they had been over my ear canal for sometime the plugs had become gooey soft, which added to the problem. The next night I went back to the Mack's silicone plugs. I find them much more comfortable and dependable, as I easily get 8 to 10 uses out of a pair. Plus, it's very easy to split the Mack's in half to get double the usage without losing their effectiveness. I really wanted to like the Ohropax ear plugs, but for now I'll consider this loss as stupid tax.

Favorite ear plugs for sleep
I have to wear ear plugs at night. I've tried all kinds of ear plugs and these are the most comfortable for sleeping! With foam earplugs, my ears would always hurt when I woke up in the morning. But that has never happened with these wax ear plugs. They do a great job of actually blocking out the noise and molding to my ear too. I've been wearing them to bed for 9 years now.

Much More Comfortable Than Silicon or Foam Ear Plugs
I purchased the Ohropax Wax Earplugs based on comfort looking at other websites and their recommendations. I found that 4 out of the 5 websites that I went to, recommended Ohropax over other brands based on the comfortability factor. I was willing to sacrifice a little bit of noise reduction dB for comfortability. Traditional Earplugs block out about 30+ dB whereas the Wax Ear Plugs are rated for 23 dB noise reduction. When I received the Ohropax Wax Ear Plugs, I opened the container that the plugs come in, and I must say, was a little confused as to why the plugs were covered in cotton, but that's just to protect them from getting dirty. All you have to do is remove most of the cotton (You probably will not remove ALL of the cotton, but 95% or so is suficient enough), and mold the wax plugs into a ball and place them in your ear canal, and push the wax into your ear canal. The wax will shape to your canal. The feeling is a little weird at first, and going to bed with them in your ears is a little weird/discomforting at first, but you'll adjust after a couple of nights. I don't even notice that they're in anymore. It's even a little weird for me when I'm visiting my girlfriend's place and NOT using them. The directions that come in the container recommend only using the plugs once, but I use them way more than one time. I'd say I get about 2-4 weeks use out of each set of plugs before they get dirty, or hair gets into them, or ear wax buildup shows up on them. The first set of plugs I used, I stored them on top of the container, but I only got about a week or two use out of them. I suggest storing your current set of plugs in the container to keep them clean, and extend their life. The reason I was looking into earplugs in the first place was my noisy neighbors above me in my apartment. My ears are pretty sensitive while in bed, so I hear just about everything. Car doors slamming shut, footsteps, conversations, etc. The only thing I can hear is when there's a loud thud above me, but I've already diplomatically squashed that issue with my upstairs neighbors, so that's not much of an issue anymore. I place these babies into my ear, and have a little fan next to my bed going at the same time for a little white noise, and I sleep through the night. I would very much recommend these to anyone that has trouble sleeping, and your ears are a bit sensitive when going to bed. Just remember that it'll be a bit weird at first going to bed, so take the plugs with a grain of salt at first, and don't give up on them immediately. These are wayyyyy more comfortable than foam or silicon ear plugs. If you have any questions about the product, feel free to ask!
