Q: does it really cut material well

I gave the acuquilt go to my wife for Christmas. It is one of the best gifts I've ever given her. She has made 3 quilts 1 with the 3" tumbler, 1 with 5"block and and now 1 with 3" triangle. Plus she's making Christmas ball decorations to give to family and friends. She has really enjoyed everything about the acuquilt go. I hope this helps. And yes you do need the mat. It helps with clean cuts.

A 10x10 die is for a larger cutter, and likely not work in a smaller cutter, obviously because there would not be enough room for it to go through the cutter. As the other response said, a smaller die could work in a larger cutter.

Absolutely NO! that mat is not thick enough for scan-n-cut!
