![Superman & Lois: Season 1 [DVD] [2021]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/41OIsH3b+XL.jpg)

After years of facing supervillains, monsters, and alien invaders intent on wiping out the human race, the world’s most famous superhero (Tyler Hoechlin) and comic books’ most famous journalist (Elizabeth Tulloch) come face to face with one of their greatest challenges ever – dealing with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society. Review: Wished the Zack Snyder films had been like this - I admit I was not keen on the previous CW shows and so I gave this show a pass at first. But my friend, who is a big Superman fan, convinced me to sit down and watch it a few weeks into its first season run. We ended up binging two episodes and I was very surprised. Having the show focus on Lois and Clark juggling parental duties to two teenage boys while living outside Metropolis sets the show apart from almost every Superman story— but maintains its comic book roots and charm. It makes me wish Zack Snyder had tried a similar story approach with his DC films instead of what he went with instead. My main complaints with the show is that some of the supporting characters— like Lana, her alcoholic ex-husband and her daughter— feel placed there to satisfy the CW demographic. I don’t think they’re necessary story wise when the Kent family, General Lane, Morgan Edge/Tal Rho and John Edge are enough. And yes, the broadcast budget doesn’t mean that the VFX is up to par with theatrical movies (it’s fairly ropey in places), but the quality of the writing and acting overcome that. Overall, this is a strong start to a show that ran for 4 seasons and 53 episodes overall. While I’m glad to have S&L on DVD, it lacks compared to the heydays when studios splashed out on extras and making physical releases an event. Putting 15 episodes on three discs (plus several extras) results in mild compression artifacts but it’s definitely watchable with good 5.1 surround. If you’re not an English speaker, there’s no alternative dub or subtitle tracks available (WB used to be good about providing French and Spanish subtitles but cheapened out). But it’s packaged well in a regular Amaray case and takes up minimal space compared to the bulky digipaks Buffy and Smallville had. Review: Superman for the 21st Century - Superman and Lois has a most unique precedent as Clark Kent is now happily married to Lois and the two have teenage boys. (We can thank Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan for "Man of Steel" bringing Superman into the 21st Century) A strong cast, a deep family theme, a resounding soundtrack, and some scriptwriters that stay true to the vision of Superman (a Kryptonian who embraces his human saviors to return the favor to the world) and it stays true to the ideology of Superman having the highest integrity. That is a challenge for any being among humanity.

Wished the Zack Snyder films had been like this
I admit I was not keen on the previous CW shows and so I gave this show a pass at first. But my friend, who is a big Superman fan, convinced me to sit down and watch it a few weeks into its first season run. We ended up binging two episodes and I was very surprised. Superman for the 21st Century
Superman and Lois has a most unique precedent as Clark Kent is now happily married to Lois and the two have teenage boys. The best show to hit the CW since “Arrow”.
Being a Tyler Hoechlin fan since his days on “7th Heaven”, I knew I was going to watch this show regardless. But this show actually gives Clark/Superman a depth none of the other shows did. He is not only faced with the every day trials of being Superman, but he is now a husband, a father, a friend. He tackles each and every thing with honor and integrity. While General Lane intentionally makes it hard as he can, the outside force working against him, turning Smallville against itself, makes it even harder. Then to be attacked by weapons General Lane made to kill Superman after promising to never do that, to be attacked by someone he trusts his wife to be around, to be attacked by the town, to be attacked by family - and on top of all of that find out that someone close to him has natural kryptonian powers? SPOILER : The most touching episode is when Lana allows herself to get the consciousness of Superman’s mother. She gets to see the amazing man he has grown to be, the hero he has become. And he gets to tell her he loves her, missed having her while growing up. This show while have you angry, happy, sad, heartbroken, filled with awe, filled with love, but at the end of the day, realizing family - and friends that are as close as family - are what’s really the most important thing.

Super Cool
I was against watching another Superman show, but this is the best one I have ever seen. Love this actor so much. I think if I was in Smallville I would be fooled by him too. He does not look like Superman when he is playing Clark Kent. He's so good at playing a nerd. And Lois is good too.

Fazit: Die Welt braucht Helden. Und wir brauchen Lois Lane und Clark Kent! (Vorallem in Gestalt von Tyler Hoechlin ;) !)
