The strap is made of woven threads into a braid like pattern. I love the shoes but the strap is too snug and I can't wear them. Be sure to size up if you have any doubts.

The sandys are a tad wider. I’ve never had a problem with the sandy straps, they are my favorite. These are cute but a bit narrower. I think all reefs run a tad shorter than they used to, but I still wear my regular size.

Q: Does the braided part loosen at all with wear?

I have had mine for quite some time, and have not noticed that it has loosened.
