I purchased Fisherman’s Friend Original Extra Strong lozenges from Amazon while dealing with a persistent, barking dry cough and sore throat. I’m all for checking medications and products carefully before taking them, and I always recommend asking a pharmacist or healthcare provider if you have questions. These lozenges are strong—there’s no exaggeration there. The menthol is intense, but that’s also what makes them effective. Used as directed (about one lozenge every two hours), they don’t cure the cough, but they do temporarily calm it down, which can be a huge relief when the coughing is constant and exhausting. I’ve been using them alongside hot tea with honey, prescribed antibiotics, and an inhaler as needed, and the combination has helped take the edge off enough to rest and function. They soothe and lightly numb the throat, helping calm that raw, irritated feeling that triggers nonstop coughing. They may be too strong for those sensitive to menthol, but if you need something powerful for short-term relief, Fisherman’s Friend lives up to its reputation. Strong, old-school, and effective for temporary relief when it’s needed most.

Strong... Very strong but they get the job done! Clears my throat and nasal passage while stopping my cough. I will be trying the other flavors if I ever finish my bulk supply?

Love these cough drops. I buy them by the case and then give them to friends who get a cold. Strong menthol helps open air passages. The only cough drops I purchase!

Best cough drops in the world! If you've ever had a mint Altoid, the Fisherman's Friend has the same texture and consistency. And like an Altoid, they are very potent and powerful when you first put them in your mouth. Chewing them should be done at your own risk, lol. Fisherman's Friends are great because they have a very low sugar content. So unlike many cough drops which are essentially more of a candy, these will not irritate your throat if you consume a bunch. Stick with the original flavor btw, the others have sucralose. The fact that they come in multiple small packets is awesome. This allows you to put one in the car, in the pocket of your favorite coats, and so on. If you've never tried Fisherman's Friends, you're truly missing out on THE most effective and easy on your throat cough drop. Once you try them, every other brand will fall short.

I love it. They have a good amount of menthol, and combined with the other ingredients, they took away the extreme pain in my throat. Except, if I cough. Then it is a 90% reduction in pain versus without it. In the case of a cough, pain returns, but goes away after a few minutes. These have stunned, the enourmous pain in my throat. They clear my nostrils, though only for a few minutes, but after there is still increased airflow. The pain removal however, last a long time. I am sort of in a state of shock, because I was tense from the pain, and now I am mostly relaxed. Ricola doesn't do anything like these. I love them, and will try to always have some, just in case. / I wish they didn't have corn syrup, and for the cherry and honey-lemon flavors, I wish that they did not have the sugar alcohol, sorbitol. Plus, I wish those ones were sweetened with Stevia, instead of acesulfame K.

Strong lozenge - clears ones airways!!!!

These are not for the faint of heart. They are very, very strong. They seem to work. I say seem because I cannot keep one in my mouth to long. I think they stop the coughing. They will last me a lifetime!! Lol. If you want and can stand how strong they are, buy them.

This pack lasts me for a year. When I have a cough, sore, throat, or stuffy nose, I don't want to run out of these. Nor do I want to run from store to store looking for them. This was the largest economical pack I could find. I used to be able to find these in drugstores or supermarket checkouts. However, more recently, I've only been finding the more gentle cherry edition. In case you didn't know, those are half as strong as Original. Do these taste good? No. Do they taste horrible? Also no. They taste strong! I first heard of these in high school when a person sitting two rows over took one. It was so strong, it cleared my sinuses from afar. True story.
