Maelstrom Cooler Backpack

This thing is awesome! I’m so glad I bought it. It looks awesome, made out of great materials, zippers work great, great extra space. Enough room to pack a picnic. Comfortable to wear. So much better than a single-strap cooler. You can take it with you on a hike and things stay cold and protected.

I bought the Maelstrom Cooler Backpack as a wedding gift for my daughter and son-in-law, and I can confidently say it’s a winner because I personally own five Maelstrom coolers, including the backpack version in orange! I’m a huge fan of these soft-sided coolers—they’re incredibly versatile and perfect for camping, beach trips, hiking, or even shopping. The backpack design is a standout, holding a TON of items (easily 35-50 cans) while keeping contents relatively cool for a soft-sided cooler, which is impressive. Great purchase! I was shopping the other big names (i.e. expensive) and saw the positive reviews for this much less expensive option and figured I’d give it a try as it had all the features I was looking for. I took it to the beach yesterday and loaded it with a bag (of already melting) ice and drinks. After 8 hours on a very hot beach day I still had some ice left at the end of the day and our drinks were still very cold. No leakage at all either. The backpack seems very well constructed and was comfortable. For a fraction of the cost of the well-known cooler backpacks, this is an absolute buy. I rarely write reviews, but was so impressed by this cooler (and thrilled with the extra $100+ I didn’t spend) that I had to spread the word.

Overall, great features. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and has plenty of extra space and pockets for organizing snacks, cups and essentials. The design makes it convenient day trips, baseball and softball parks and the lake .Downside is that it does not hold key very well . If you are planning a longer outing or hot weather, you might find ice melts faster than expected . It works better with ice packs than loose ice .This is a solid choice with modification for ice . Enjoy the hot days with the family !

I love this cooler backpack. So much room and so comfy to wear on my back. Perfect for co-op days and other day trips.

I bought 3 backpacks, unsure of which style I'd like best, and kept this one in the lime green. It was the largest of the 3 and we weren't sure if we needed one that big, but glad we went with it. First use was a day trip to the race track. We froze some water bottles to use as ice packs, had 4 froze, 2 unfrozen, 8 beers, and 2 sodas in with no issue. Our drinks stayed chilled for the 12 hours we were out there. The only complaint was our sandwiches didn't stay as cold as preferred. Those were only in there for 2 hrs before we ate them. So I'd definitely say this is better for drinks than food. And maybe we needed more ice packs or ice. Not sure how it will hold up if you use loose ice. The many pockets are a plus for coozies, napkins, hand sanitizer, etc. Also this was the most comfortable to wear out of the ones we tested.

Great cooler for the price! It offers plenty of space, we packed several drinks and snacks for a full day on the lake. It’s also really comfortable to wear, even when full. I carried it through the airport and out to the boat with no problem. The fabric feels strong and well made. Definitely happy with this purchase.

My hubby lays blacktop for a living, so we needed a cooler that could withstand the heat, and also fit all of his tools and other odds and ends since there's really not space to put multiple bags on his machine, and the car can be miles away.So first things first, yes. This backpack cooler does keep his food and drinks cold all day long, even being around hot asphalt all day. It's very well insulated.Next- This bag fits EVERYTHING! There are so many pockets and the zippers dont get caught! He uses the front pouch with the utensil slots to organize his tools. The top pouch fits his wallet, phone, and sunglasses. There's a secret pouch behind the lumbar padding that'll come in handy when we're in NYC.The padding on the shoulders and back is very thick, so it's not uncomfortable even when it's filled with a giant thermos, food, and tools. Can comfortably walk around with this all day long for hiking or urban exploration.BONUS- He's able to use the chest strap to secure the bag to the back of his seat while running the machine, so we no longer have to worry about it falling off! (His last cooler was a Milwaukee, and the strap broke and it got run over by the roller, crushing everything inside. And this has happened with at least 4 regular coolers over the years.)Overall, this Backpack cooler is extremely versatile. We plan to get a second one to use for camping, vacations, and just to have when we're planning to be out all day, just so he doesn't have to take all of his work stuff out of the one we already have.1000% recommend!
