Great for travel. Reel seat is a little small for my 5000 Penn but 4000 fits great fishes great. Little small for GT but doable

This rod is great; it feels like a 9-footer in your hand but with extra cast. After 2 months of fishing, the rod tip broke on a cast. I emailed customer service, and within a week I got a new rod. No hassle, quick process, great people. Will buy more Berry Pro in the future.

Rod is of medium quality and action but the sic inserts on the eyes are not hardy and the tip broke on the first day of use. Sadly wasn't used until after my 30 day period. I ordered 2. One the tip eye broke. The other the rod broke in the 2nd section.

... you regularly check the joints between sections. I needed a 4-piece surf rod for travel and, as you've also probably found, the options are somewhat limited. This is a reasonable stick, especially for the price point, but you MUST be diligent and constantly make sure all 3 connection points are tight. If you don't, you'll crack one of the overlapping sleeves when you load up on a cast, or a fish. I used my rod for 2 different trips to Panama for what totaled 7 weeks of fishing, on a daily basis. I was exclusively throwing and retrieving artificials so the rod definitely got its casting reps. It proved durable and managed a decent number of fish (including a 40ish lb yellow fin when I decided to take it offshore for a strength test [I had the 11' rod, which is obviously too long for a boat stick, but I wanted to investigate]). But yesterday it finally broke at the butt section connection, when I loaded up a cast for a 3 oz lure. 100% avoidable. I don't think the sections are any more susceptible to loosening than any other multiple-piece rods so you just need to ask yourself if you have the discipline to periodically check for tightness.
