Fountain pen ink is typically water based. Our inks are alcohol based and much thinner than a water based ink. I've painted plastic, metal, fabric, paper and resin with minimal issues. I found that painting over fabric is particularly successful, and white is best. I was glad that I read the reviews that indicated that while this works well- it is very thin. On occasion, you do need a few coats to really pop- particularly if the object isn't stark white. This didn't show up on anything I painted in normal light- and is very much invisible until revealed by blacklight. This is exactly the answer to what I was looking for, for personal projects.
