This is an excellent quality product - equivalent to the OEM model - and works perfectly with my Lenovo W530 laptop. The only noticeable difference between it and the OEM adapter which came with my laptop is that the laptop end of the plug on the OEM model is keyed, whereas the plug on this item may be rotated when plugged in. This does not appear to affect the operation at all.

This is a high quality original equipment replacement power supply/battery charger. It is designed for the Lenovo Thinkpad laptops that require 170 watt power output, 20 volts at 8.5 amps. It works perfectly on my model W530 laptop. It was packaged well and shipping was fast. I’m very happy with the purchase.

Arrived in a box that was properly packed. Charger worked perfectly and was branded Lenovo. Some others expressed concern that it was only 2 prong (versus missing ground for 3 prong), but as I said, it works perfectly.

So far so good. The question with these is how durable it is. I've used it about a month. This one has a two prong AC wall plug. Others and original equipment adapter have 3 prong. This seems ok but Based on previous experiences with the original adapter and a non- OEM replacement, both of failed at the sleeve where connection plugs into computer after a few years. Anticipating this, this time I taped this point with some electrical tape for about two more inches. time will tell if this is any more durable. Why these cords cant be replaceable or easily repairable is I'm sure some technical issue (maybe requires solder?) but it is a shame to keep replacing these things when they fail near the computer connection. The charger itself works fine...it's the darn cord/connection. On the older laptops the connection in the computer was the point of failure.

The original adapter stopped working and the laptop battery was going dead; the new adapter arrived in about 1 week and has worked great.

I have two ThinkPad W520 machines. (Product Numbers: 427638U and 4270CT0). My original adapter for the first machine had a model of 45N0117 and indicated FRU P/N:45N0118 Based on the other reviews, I was a little concerned about which version I would actually receive and whether it would be truly compatible. The one I received was a 3-pin version with P/N:42T5284, and indicates FRU P/N:42T5285. After doing a few web searches, I see this is actually for the W700 series rather than the W520. Despite all that, since the power specs are similar, and it physically fits in the machines, I decided to check it out anyway. I've had the adapter for around 5 days, and so far, it has been working well with both machines.

Surprised to see that the W520 is also using 45N0113. I just purchased a "W530" charger which was 45N0112. 45N0113 shipped with my W530 in early 2013. So glad to have the beauty of the 45N0113 instead of the dated design of the 45N0112. Picture attached is "W530" charger (45N0112) on left; on the right is the 45N0113 with proper W530 plug.

The power supply worked well with my ThinkPad W520 for approximately ten weeks. After that, the insulation on the plug that connects the power supply with the AC outlet began to crack near the power supply. It does not supply power to the computer unless the wire is positioned a certain way which makes me worry about the safety of this product. Also, as another reviewer noted, the product description is incorrect -- the FRU P/N is 42T5285 (NOT 45N0118). I am purchasing a replacement.
