Lippert Components 260282 Gas Strut for Pitched Awning Arms, 24" - Black

Easy to install. Fits well and works well.

Purchased this to replace it broken riser on a 9 ft lippert awning. It works very well once you get it installed. Installation was not so simple. The struts do not come compressed so I had to dismantle the actual awning arm to get this mounted and then I had to use a tie-down to cinch it up tight enough to get the arm remounted to the rig. If these would have come compressed it would have made insulation so much easier. Keep that in mind when purchasing because it wasn't an easy task for a single person to install this

I have an awning that sagged on one end. It was really difficult to collapse this strut to install it, but I figured out a way to install it disconnecting other brackets. Unfortunately it didn't solve my sagging issue, there must be something else out of whack.

Make sure you have tools to compress it to install

Can't beat it when it's the exact branded part as my original. Perfect!

We bought our new 5th Whl in March 2017, which came with the Solera adjustable pitch awning. Within the first month one of the two struts started seeping an oily fluid, but still held the pitch and awning up for a couple more months. It eventually failed in June and would not hold the weight of the awning on one side. I ordered this strut back then through Amazon to replace the broken one. It fit and worked perfectly for 9 months, but now (March 2018) this one is starting to seep the fluid and minimally holds the pitch. I expect a total failure imminently. The original strut was a Lippert and I replaced it with the same Lippert size and model. Well, I just ordered another one of these struts to replace the recently installed failing one... Let's hope the third time's the charm.

Needed to replace a worn out strut on my heavy smoker door and this fit and works perfect!
