Very good for the price
I'm using these in a retail store to secure laptop displays. This seems sturdy, and the lock seems solid. The numbers have a positive click when rotating them. Some combination cables are too easy to reset, leading to accidental resetting to an unknown combination. This one isn't difficult at all, but impossible without a small flat head screwdriver. Just push the screw in, turn a quarter turn, set the new combination, then turn the screw back. The only issue I foresee with this, is the T shaped end. Some slots on laptops, especially the really thin "ultrabook" or "sleekbook" types have very little room to the sides of the slot. This one MIGHT not fit in some of those. The T isn't as wide as some I've seen though, so it may not be an issue at all. I have some of the Targus Defcon locks too. They don't need as much room to the sides of the slot. The build quality seems similar, if not a bit better, with these, and the Targus ones are about $10 more on average. I'm happy with these. edit: I've been using several of these for some time now, and I still like them very much. I've found the easiest way to lock them is dial in the code, then simply stick them in the slot, press, and turn. Make sure you turn in the direction so the numbers are easy to read, or you'll have to turn the laptop upside down or something to dial in the code. Also make sure it is centered in the slot, and that both pins go in the slot, or it isn't locked. Despite my wondering about how well they would work on sleekbooks and ultrabooks, they have fit every one I've tried. No worries there any more.

I work from home and like to get out into coffee shops and other places ...
I wish I bought one of these a long time ago! I work from home and like to get out into coffee shops and other places every now and then just to get out of the house. The problem is that if I'm sitting for a long time in a public place I'll eventually need to get up to go to the restroom or do other things. With this lock I can loop through a fixed table leg (or other furniture/fixture), loop through my backpack and lock off to the computer. This at least makes it difficult even for a brazen thief to attempt to quickly grab my stuff in a public place while I get up momentarily. This gives me a little more piece of mind so I can more comfortably get out of the house to work and for longer periods of time. As for the quality of the product itself, I haven't used other notebook locks so I don't have much to compare to. However, I haven't had any troubles and I couldn't expect this thing to do more or work better. I read some reviews about difficulty setting a new code, but I found this to be pretty easy (just read the instructions, but it's pretty intuitive... set old combo [0-0-0-0 is factory set], push/turn screw on end to vertical position, set new combo, return screw to original position). The red color makes it harder to accidentally leave it somewhere. I use a small velcro strap to keep it in a loop when it's packed in my bag. I've used it it with two different types of computers so far (one is an Asus and the other an HP) and it worked perfectly.

Exactly What I Was Looking For
Exactly what I was hoping for with my purchase. The cable is top quality. Setting a unique combo was easy. The combo dial feels sturdy. I intend on using this in a public school to allow me to walk away from my computer and not worry that it won't be there when I get back. For that purpose, it serves perfectly. Not sure how easy it would be to cut through the wire, not willing to try!

Works great. Easy to use and seems sturdy enough
Works great. Easy to use and seems sturdy enough. I'm sure I could cut it if I had the right tools but it would definitely discourage petty theft. Perfect length I think as it wraps around whatever object I use (usually a chair) with enough room to get it to the desk and have enough wiggle room to move around. It's perfect for long study sessions at the library so I can use the restroom without major fear of having my laptop stolen and having to carry it all with me.

great product
I was very unsure when I fist got this. Most locks when you press the button the center lock rotates to allow it to be inserted into the slot. This unit pressing the button retracts the outer pins and the center does not rotate. This was what I hated at first and is not what I love. You can have your code set to unlock then when you go to put it in you really don't even have to push the button. Put it in and twist. Once it is in position it clicks into place. You then jumble the code and good to go. Works wonderful, I have bent and twisted and the insulation is holding up fine. Would definitely purchase again.

Good for the price
Not bad for the price. Cable seems tough and sturdy (like all other cables) and the locking mechanism feels solid though it does feel a bit clunky. However, the one thing that bugs me is the design. The T-Bar that is inserted into the key hole on the laptop is fixed. The two prongs along side retract into the lock body when you press the release button on the lock body. When attaching to the laptop, you depress the release button thereby retracting the adjacent prongs, insert the T-Bar into the key hole, turn the lock body 90 degrees, then release the button to extend the adjacent prongs into the key hole to prevent the T-Bar from being rotated. Though it may seem a little petty, the act of holding down the release button and turning 90 degrees and aligning the adjacent prongs with the key hole is rather cumbersome. Additionally, there seems to be potential of scratching the laptop when releasing the button to extend the prongs when not perfectly aligned with the key hole. Compared to the Kensington combination lock which employs an action that involves simply pressing the button, inserting the T-Bar into the key hole, then releasing, this design seems a bit archaic. If you're looking for something to use occasionally, this works fine. If you plan to use it everyday, like me, I'd look for something else.

Great Value, works as expected!
This is a really great value for these security cables. I was impressed with the build quality and ease of use. The cable can rotate freely where it attaches to the locking mechanism, so it's easy to put on and take off of any device. I bought several of these to take on an extended business trip, and used them on a laptop, monitor, and Xbox One. Once it was attached to the device it held on really well and did not feel loose in the security port on any of the devices.

Combination lock unable to get unlocked.
I received the device. I unpacked it and was reading the instructions on how it worked. I happened to place it in the laptop just to see if and how it worked. Next thing I know it snapped shut and it was locked on my laptop. I never changed the initial 0000 code or adjusted the screw to change it. I tried multiple times and can't get it unlocked now. I don't know the new pass code if it is not 0000, because I never set it to a new combination. So the only thing I know to do is use a hack saw to cut it off between the computer and the lock. Does anyone have any advice to do next. This was a complete waste of money. A combination lock that you can only set the code one time is a joke as well. The title of the combination lock should be: "Use this one-time only combination lock on your laptop.....so you can never get the lock back open again."
