Strong performance for the price
Strong performance for the price – smooth handling of IoT tasks and multitasking Excellent wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi + BLE) Good memory configuration (8MB Flash + 8MB PSRAM), useful for more complex projects Native USB support, making programming and debugging easier Very flexible GPIO layout for prototyping and breadboard use

Nice board. Micro usb connectors.
This board uses micro usb connectors and not "C". Be aware of this. I made an assumption. I have cables so all is fine. Its a niceboard and was up and running with espnow within no time!

Problem solved
I recently did a simple project involving a USB peripheral. When I use a clone version of this DevKit, I found lots of data corruption problems. But when I use this original version, it solved all of my problems.

Good shipping package
Very good shipping package. Works as advertised. I regret getting a board without built-in battery management. For me it would be better to have a battery that recharges though the programming USB connection.

Doesn't work with MacOS
Unable to get this to work with MacOS. Drivers would download but board not recognized by host system. Tried downloading the drivers several times both from Espressif and Silicon Labs. Tried both modules I ordered, changed cables, and host computers with no luck. After 4 hours gave up…

A dream for prototypes
One thing to note, this is the wroom 1 quad flash and not wroom 2 octa flash. This is fine for most uses until need to keep them labeled so I don’t use them with higher memory usage projects. I picked up several more of these. The esp32s3 devkit is a great device for quick prototyping with a breadboard. With expansive IO, it’s easy to use one of these without worry of limited GPIO or reduced functionality. Once the prototype is finished, I buy an esp32s3 that matches the specific requirements and solder it into a final device. I love these dev boards for the simple reusability. For those not aware, the esp32s3 has some of the most complete micropython to use. Having access to networking and low level features like esp now from micro python allows for very quick coding compared to laboring with c for something so simple.
