I was a little skeptical on what this rod could handle being it only costs $42, especially when I picked it up and it was so light it felt like it would break easily but I was not disappointed in the slightest, I got a 7' medium and a medium heavy with a kastking centron 3000 and Penn pursuit 2 4000 on the medium heavy, caught tons of bass on the medium with absolutely no issue and went flats fishing 2 slot rods, a snook, a couple catfish, one of which was around 8 lbs with the medium heavy, this rod made pulling them in no problem. I previously used a medium uglystik gx2 and this rod casts so much nicer, is way more sensitive and is much lighter and more comfortable and held up just as good. would definitely recommend Update: it has been like two years since I left my review and I ended up with three total cadence rods, the 7' medium and medium heavy and a cr7 rod, the cr7 rod broke the tip off after the third cast or so so I got a replacement under warranty and that one broke after like 5 casts, got a second replacement and that one also broke first time using it, so I opted for a refund and was refunded. Now during all these broken cr7 rods my cr5 medium rod broke in half after a few months, got that replaced and used it as my main inshore rod for about a year and a half and it was great. Well it just broke this past weekend halfway through my day of fishing, broke about two feet from the tip. The medium heavy I bought is the only one that never broke and is still currently holding up, the eyelets are very easy to bend so I gotta be careful with it but thats about my only gripe with that rod. Needless to say, I have only broken 5 fishing rods in my life while fishing and they were all these rods, so I will not be purchasing another one. I'm not even gonna bother getting my medium rod replace as it still has a year of warranty. Going out fishing with two rods (a heavy rod for big bait and a medium for artificials) and one of them keeps breaking while out on the water kinda ruins the whole fishing trip. Penn squadron rods are only $40-50 and are more durable.

These are great rods! Very light with lots of flexibility, but strong enough to pull in 14lb Rockfish. More expensive than a Berkeley or Shimano Stimula, but worth every dollar. Now all my other rods seem annoyingly stiff and clumsy. I have two so far at $60 each, but I’ll be buying more soon. Highly recommend! Added October 24, 2019: Bought a third CR5-30 and on my second trip it broke off between the third and fourth guides. I was only casting with a 3/8th ounce weight. The line seemed to catch very early in the cast and the rod just broke completely in two. Very disappointed, but since I always have at least 3 rods in the boat, I didn’t lose the whole trip. I’m going to try and contact Cadence and see if the will help me out. Meanwhile, I’m buying the CR7-40 rod to see if it’s tougher. I still really like these rods! Update October 25th, 2019: Contacted cadence fishing.com. Received a prompt and very courteous reply and they are sending me a replacement rod! Can’t beat that for customer service! I still love these rods and reels!

I purchased the CR5-30 in October of last year but I have not had the chance to use it until lately. I've been bass fishing and inshore fishing with it and it is a great rod. It has excellent sensitivity and backbone.Today I hooked a Red Fish and had 15 minutes of pure fun. I had 20lb braid on this thing and the fish broke the line but the pole did a great job. We figured the fish was plenty north of 20lbs and way out of the slot as we did see it a couple of times. I'll get him next time. Lol. If I could give it more stars, I would. Great rod go get one and go fishing!!! lol.

Ordered this rod from just scrolling on Amazon. I fished about every brand of rods available. For the price I didn’t expect much but I wanted to give it a try. I took it out today for some spring smallmouth in PA. This rod performed amazing. I won’t give a higher score on durability because it has only caught 10 fish so far.
