If the shoe fits, your toes are happy!
I just researched that runners are recommended to buy shoes half the size bigger than your actual shoe size since your toes and arch of your feet grow. Didn't know that fact when i bought this item. However, so far the shoe is great despite the snug fit. It took only 3 days to break in just from walking in them. I did 2 5k runs in them on pavement and on a wooded trail and it performed great with ease compared to my old sport Avia running shoes. As far as the size and weight ofbtge sneaker, it is kinda bulky for wooded trail running with all that venture 6 gel padding. It provides the support great, but bottom heavy for those wooded trails. I strongly recommend staying on paved and rocky trails with this sneaker. You can't really feel the wooded trails with this sneaker which is important when running long distance or exercising. Overall the support and color schemes are great. I still need to try these Asics on a "real" hiking trail to see how much arch and ankle support it provides. Its extremely comfortable and it breathes well. Asics do tend to run a smidge bigger compared to Nike runners, so keep that in mind when choosing the correct shoe size. I wear 8 1/2 mens, which i should have bought a size 9. If you don't buy half shoe size up, you will develop calluses and blisters and possibly toe cramps and arch issues. If the shoes also forces you to change the way you run, then that's not good. You need a bigger fitting sneaker. This is great for its market value. Still wish they had more brighter and color scheme options for men in running shoes. I get so jealous of the women's color schemes, they look so much better. Overall a great product and Asics comes highly recommended. A product that will last.

First serious Amazon Review
Out of the countless items I've bought from amazon through the years, I never would've expected a pair of shoes to be the crowning purchase to persuade me to write my first review, but here's why. For a living I work in a factory under the job title of "Services", what this means pretty much is I'm an assistant supervisor. For example I keep track of cut numbers, sizes, bundle count, product progression, product disposal, mechanical issues, on spot inspection, the list goes on. There's 60 some people from the start of my production lines, to the end, spanned around 26 different sections/stations that I watch over and maintain throughout the day. Everything from moving material/machines, to even going and getting them drinks and snacks. Essentially what all this boils down to is I walk, a LOT. I'm talking you see those Dr Scholl commericals where it's like "John walks 16,000 steps a week and to help protect his feet and back he uses Dr Scholls" and I literally laugh because I do 15,000 steps before my first break at 9 in the morning. I average 25-30 miles a day walking that concrete floor. I've tried almost every pair of insoles, shoes, and the like that you can think of sold between Walmart, Shoe Show, Boot Barn, and beyond. Now here's the reason I'm writing this first ever review... These Asics Gel-Venture 6 shoes are the FIRST and ONLY shoes that I've literally taken them out of the box, put them on, and managed to walk my full shift without having to change insoles or shoes all together. THERE IS NO BREAK IN TIME, they fit perfectly right out the box. I put them on at 5 AM the morning after I got them, and didn't take them off till my shower that night. Not only did they stay comfortable all day during work, but they kept my feet so supported and comfortable that I didn't take them off soon as I got through the door. That's saying a lot, cause even the $200+ dollar pair of work boots I have WITH a 100+ dollar set of doctor prescribed orthopedic insoles in them doesn't make it that far, yea they get me through work day pretty good but they come off soon as I hit the bedroom. These right here I didn't even have to change the "factory" insoles in. I literally took them out of the box, tied them onto my feet and was gone. My feet stayed nice and dry, they didn't fatigue or start straining halfway through the day, nothing. NOW, I will admit, there are some downsides for me and they are as follows: I do work in a factory, and these Asics, as amazingly close to perfection as they are, they are made out of a leather/cloth combination. Slipping a 2,000 pound loaded palletjacket over the toe of these will probably result in toothpaste toes compared to the nice sturdy steel toe of my boots. They aren't waterproof by ANY means. They do have really good grip BUT they are not slip resistant or oil resistant. Luckily my job doesn't require these factors, infact my job doesn't require anything other than "closed toe" footwear hence why I figured I'd give these badboys a try after having several coworkers recommend I get a pair. Another "downside" I would say, and this is more so just personal preference really is, I wish they made medium/hightop versions of these shoes, the extra ankle support would be amazing with these shoes. But yea, if these are requirements you need then you might want to keep looking however personally, I'd say find you a different job where you can wear a pair of these cause they are that amazing, Straight Out The Box!!

Tight at first, fit better once broken in
Just got these yesterday, so these are initial impressions. I range from a size 11.5 to a 12 and usually go with 12 in a hiking shoe for a little looseness. Size 12 on these feels tight to me, especially in the toe area. I am seriously going to need these to break in to get a little more comfortable. I don't remember my last pair of ASICS being this tight initially. The rest of the shoe seems fine. The uppers appear to be well made. I don't imagine these will hold up a very long time on rough ground because the sole material seems kind of soft. Update: Now that I have walked about 10 miles in these, the shoe has loosened up considerably and is becoming very comfortable. Upping my rating by a star. Update 2: I am about 3 weeks in with these shoes and I've been wearing them almost daily and walking 3-5 miles per day. They're fully broken in and pretty comfortable. I like that the gel doesn't feel squishy like another ASICS product I've owned. It's deep winter and I've been wearing these out in the cold and snow. They're quite warm, and stayed dry walking through a 3" snowfall. The tread is not deep, and slips very easily on ice or wet floors, but is grippy on pavement.

Love these shoes
Every morning I go for a 5-mile walk so about every 4-5 months I need a new pair of walking/running shoes. For years, I've worn shoes of another brand exclusively, because they were well made, comfortable and durable, but I ran into trouble when they needed to be replaced. I went to three local stores and was disappointed to find that every shoe in 'MY' brand was only stocked in wide or extra wide, and two of the three stores only had wide shoes. The last store only had some nice but too stiff and bulky trail running shoes and asics in normal width, and although I'd never used this brand before, I figured I'd give them a try. I normally wear a 10.5, and these gel venture 6 were a perfect fit. Another plus for these is the removable insole. I need to put a flexible steel insole in the shoe to reduce flexing of my toes because of a medical condition, so I can slip that underneath the shoe's normal insole. The day after buying them, I wore them on my daily walk and was amazed and how much more comfortable these were than any of my previous walking shoes. They felt pillow soft to walk on, with great cushioning, but they still provided excellent foot support. When that pair of shoes wore down to the point they needed to be replaced, the next pair was another gel venture 6 that I bought without even thinking of looking at another brand. The only issue I had with the shoes was that the laces are very smooth and would often untie themselves when walking, so I had to get into the habit of using a double knot when I tied the laces to prevent that from happening. Although that was an annoyance, I like these shoes so much I couldn't deduct a star because of that.

good basic trainer, similar to Venture5
General purpose athletic shoes that are a comfortable height and width, competitively priced. ASICS are my go-to general purpose athletic shoe. but I tend to walk in them rather then run. For reasonably priced shoes, they hold up well; my old pair of Gel-Venture 4's has held up to three years of regular light use. They're starting to look worn and a couple of thread-ends are coming out of the stitching, but I've done literally nothing to keep them in good condition, and they still feel comfortable and don't look bad. As with all ASICS running shoes, order a half-size larger than you would in other brands. The Venture 6 seems to be very similar to the ASICS Gel Venture 5 (I tried both). This "6" seems to have a slightly lower rise than the "5", as well as a different sole (with opposing-direction V-shaped treads), differently placed ventilation holes, and a lower location for the pull-loop on the heel. The fit seems to be the same. I slightly prefer the (barely) higher cut of the Venture 5, but this is a good pair of running shoes. Recommended.

Great Shoe
I'm old and fat. I can't do anything about the old, but I'm trying to work on the fat part. For me these are a great shoe and provide good support and grip while I attempt to achieve true jogging velocity for more than a mile without having parts fall off, twisting my ankle, or otherwise injuring myself. The shoe fits exactly as expected and the laces are very durable and don't slip or work loose. There appears to be plenty of cushioning and support that allows my forefoot to spread out w/o having my foot slide in the shoe. They are also reasonably quiet on most surfaces. I has an old pair of Asics trail running shoes (when I wasn't as old or fat) and they were so squeaky I hardly wore them. These work great for me when attempting exercise and are also very comfortable in daily wear when I'm too lazy to find my other pair of sneakers. As with almost any shoe from any brand, I would recommend finding and using a favorite insole as the ones included are 1/16 inch of pure nothing. Great shoe. If/when these wear out, I will be looking for another pair of the same. Now, does Amazon sell portable defibrillators?

Improvement over previous version. Great value!
Improved over the previous model. The stripes originating from near the side of the ball of the foot then extending upwards toward the back of the shoe, lets call these the STRIPES. In previous models these STRIPES were made of a material and were not as flexible or forgiving as the remainder of the shoe. This could cause extra agitation that seemed unneeded on outter side of the big toe near the large knuckle joint. In this model they removed that harder plastic-like material that they previous used for the stripes. In this model they use the softer fake suede like material for all the support where it was previously, as well as where the stripes are. The stripes are now painted onto the softer support material. This creates a much more comfortable shoe. I personally feel like these are 4-6 month shoes as worn by an over weight gentleman without cswapping the shoe every other day for another pair to let the foams bounce back. Under my daily use these seem great for a 4-6 month time frame, though they still seem in good shape material wise they just feel beaten up after some time. I will have to go back and wear the old shoes again in the future to see if they are really that bad or not. MAybe get a second life out of them.

Might be a Knockoff
I'm pretty sure I either have a knock off or an irregular. My first suspicion was that it arrived in a plain brown box, not the normal Asics, box and no silicone packets in the shoes or in the box. I recently bought the same sneaker from Dick's Sporting Goods, I got the orange and gray of the Venture 6.. Those were soo comfortable and like walking on springy cushion I wanted another pair for my general use. Dick's only had the Orange in my size so I went here and found the blue with green. in my size and $15 cheaper. While they fit just fine, and are nice sneakers there was something off about them. At first I though it was in my head because the plain box. So I wore them exclusively for a few days to break them in. Yesterday I put on my orange Venture 6 and I could feel the difference right away. So now my suspcion was in overdrive. I walked up and down my street in the orange and the put on the blue and green I bought from Amazon and there is clearly a comfort difference. I wills still keep them since they do fit my needs and won't be using them for my exercise regimen Like I said they are fine for what they are . But something is amiss so either a knock off or an Asics reject that Zappo's bought up. If it's the latter then Amazon should describe them as such "irregular"
