Not a gimmick, it's good.
I thought that touch controls on this kettle may be a gimmick but I was wrong. They are actually really good. I was after the temperature control and flexibility. Sure it's not as quick as flicking a switch, it's two finger touches to boil the water, but it's not exactly a hardship. The functionality of the kettle isn't impacted in the least by the introduction of capacitive touch controls. There's also a cute sound that plays when you start and then when the kettle is boiled. I thought a kettle that makes noises would get old real fast but the designers have done a great job of selecting the right sound. I actually prefer it to the usual click as I can miss that sometimes but this just enough to it makes you aware but doesn't bother you with stupidly intrusive noises. The temperature controls are comprehensive and easy to understand. Just using the buttons was easiest as the manual I found a little confusing until I'd figured it out first without the manual. The unit is nice to look at, the base doesn't wander across the work top over time, and it works as it should. Only thing I think is missing is a light in the actual jug section of the unit. Be nice if there was one that came on so you could see if it's heating or not from a distance. No biggie though. Very happy with it.

Very competent for specialty teas
I don't know why I had to wade through five pages of Chinese trash before this kettle was finally shown to me. My old Russell Hobbs kettle is still going strong after more than a decade but I wanted some temperature control for various teas and coffees. This really fits in at a very good price point compared to the high end kettles with 1C variable control (this one is 5C increments, despite what the marketing says). The base plate has a conveniently small footprint for the countertop, no larger than it needs to be. The cable is reasonable and has a cutout under the base plate to wind the excess, if you don't need all the length. Overall it's quite an attractive unit, although time will tell how water marks and scale might affect that. Crucially, it seems to perform very well. I set it to 85C with the minimum two cups of water in it, to see if it really could manage the temperature control as claimed. It brought the water up to temperature quickly without hesitating too much near the final temperature. When I tested it with a calibrated culinary thermoprobe, it was bang on within 0.5C. Very impressive! Only criticisms would be that it pours a little slowly, so if you're just boiling water for pasta it's slightly frustrating. And the tea infuser it comes with is a waste of metal, there isn't enough porosity to allow the water to circulate well and extract from the tea leaves - stick to your teapot or French press or whatever.

Good quality
No issues so far and have had it several months, enjoying having a range of teas to my preferred temperature range. I don't use the inbuilt tea strainer instead I use a candle lit tea warmer with one, once the kettle is boiled to keep my tea warm for hours, for this reason I haven't had need of the keep warm function either. The dials are easy to use and I've taken care to ensure no water spills on the digital base. Gives a handy beep when it's finished but I've not found this to be too loud as I remember some reviews mentioning this. The boil itself is also relatively quick and quite.

Very good kettle, however poorly designed spout
Decent kettle I like the fact that it has a temperature controls which are easy to use. It looks quite stylish. It’s quiet quick to boil. However the spout is very poorly designed and boiling water can spit and spurt out especially when pouring can be dangerous.

Great Kettle
Love the kettle. First impression a bit bulky but the glass body makes it look less imposing. Kettle wider at base making it stable increasing amount of element contact with water. Like the fact it is glass and can easily see the level of water. Side of glass can be hot although I have not had a problem. Easy to operate and adjust temperature. Most of the time I make coffee which is below boiling point so uses less energy. Don't find it too heavy and has a good handle. Quieter than my previous kettle and reasonably fast. Lid works well and is easy to fill. We don't use the tea infuser. We are very happy with kettle. Footnote - Several months ago kettle developed intermittent fault. Kettle would switch off at any time before it had reached preset temperature. Didn't matter what temperature selected. Fault become worse as time went on until we couldn't rely on it any more. Followed fault procedure as instructed, contacted Russell Hobbs to report fault who then instructed us to contact Amazon. Amazon immediately refunded price of kettle upon return of the faulty one. We have ordered the same kettle again from Amazon as we really like it. I hope that this one will be more reliable.

This kettle changed everything. The keep warm function is wonderful. And there is a temperature setting at which it will keep warm for up to 40 minutes. Wish it could be longer than 40. The soft touch buttons and the setting dial are all well laid out. Great choice for a kettle.

Too much plastic on the inner lid and spout, so your water/steam still comes into contact with plastic. The spout is poorly designed, the last bit of water collects inside the jug and doesn’t release easily, you have shake the jug to drain the remaining water. After a few weeks gentle usage - handful of times a week, the power button doesn’t work even after turning on and off again. Turned it off for a few hours and the hard reset did resolve the issue but it’s unreliable so I will be returning.

This item arrived with a plug for a different country so I couldnt use it. I didn't want to chance it by getting my own adaptor in case it doesn't work with it and doesn't meet Australian electrical standards. Please don't sell in Australia if you are not even willing or able to provide an Australian plug.
