They are popular because they work.
Perfect salt and pepper shakers. If you don't need fancy, and just want something that 1) you can tell at a glance if its Salt or Pepper and 2) easily pours and 3) easily fills and 4) easily washes... these are your shakers. I was so tired of the fancy ceramics, and the fancy grinders... just give me something i can use to put salt and pepper on my eggs or sandwich.

Salt-N-Pepa...shakers
You want a set of salt and pepper shakers? Look no further because that's what these are. They reminded me of shakers in an old cafe in a small town that I used to love to go to. Now It's closed and I'm sad. But not since I got these salt and pepper shakers! Now I reminisce about the good old days and put salt and pepper on things. How easy are they to fill? Just take the lid off and put in some pepper or salt then put the lid back on and you're in business. I washed them in hot soapy water and left them overnight in the dish drainer and they were ready for business the next morning so I guess they were easy to clean. The look of these are just what I wanted and so I think they look great. They spend most of their time in the cabinet but when they come out to play, I hear the oohs and aahs. A word of caution. I put regular salt (the kind in a cylinder with a kid and an umbrella) in one of them. When you turn it over to shake some salt - YOU GET SALT!!! Take your heart meds first or just be aware of gobs of sodium coming your way. I started shaking it in to my hand then tossing that onto my food. I'll get them calibrated in time. At first, I looked at the holes and thought I might have to bore the holes out on my drill press. Nope. I used regular black pepper from the spice isle so nothing fancy. No problem with pepper coming out either. I like me some pepper and I don't have to cajole the pepper out of this shaker. IF something happens and they fail to shake pepper or salt, I'll update the review. Order a set of these for everyone in your family. Then you can all get some eggs, bacon, hash browns (if you already did your exercises - put a little gravy on those hash browns), toast, and coffee. Put some salt and pepper on the eggs and hash browns and think of how much I loved eating at Mom's Cafe in Whitewater, Kansas!!!! Edit: You could also put a mixture of cinnamon and sugar in these. Butter some fresh toast and shake shake shake... I haven't tried it yet but think you could easily use them as tiny baby powder dispensers. Or for foot powder.

Retro Shakers
These are a nice little set and remind me of the same but slightly taller set we had when I was growing up in the 70’s. The metal arrived a bit dented on one but it was easy to fill and works fine. I really like the amount of salt and pepper that come out, the hole size is perfect. I didn’t even realize how little my old ones put out until now.

Dinner table perfection
The salt and pepper shakers are just the right size for the dinner table and have a good grip. The holes are not too big so you can shake to taste much better. The clear glass looks nice and they are very easy to fill. Screw on lids not a plug on the bottom like the other set I purchased recently. They had very large holes on top and had a plug on the bottom. While filling the salt and pepper just poured out the other side. VERY STRANGE

Nice Vintage Looking Shakers
Love them, simple. One for my Redmond's salt and one for my Coney Island chili pepper. Classic vintage looking shakers and the holes are the same on both jars, sprinkles out nicely. Fair price.

Glas is nice
Theses are a perfect size for the table, Not too small, not too big. Retro glass is solid and they are nice looking. The tops leave a lot to be desired- thin metal and poor fit. I had trouble getting them on straight and tight. There was a finishing burr on one cap and I sliced my finger on it- so check them. My biggest issue is that the tops are identical. The holes are a little too generous for ground pepper, so salt pours through them like a hose. I solved the burr with a small file. I used clear epoxy on the inside to seal the outer ring of holes for salt. I may go back and seal a couple more. So if you don't mind a little caution and work, you'll end up with classy shakers.
