Thick leather, well stitched. Not floppy nor crushable - elegant hat that will stand the time bud definitely needs space. If You were used to baseball caps and it's Your first "cowboy" hat ever - in comparison t's almost a piece of furniture :) If it matters to You - in XL the brim is stitched to the crown's outside, so in theory it's worse option than opposite way in the case of heavy rain, but there is apparently glue used and sealing is well done. The leather is not much treated so You will have fun with DIY waterproofing / waxing and oiling in Your way (in my case olive oil/beeswax tanned it to dark brown) . The hat is equipped with leather "ears" with holes for chin strap. The chin strap is standard cheap elastic one with plastic stoper, You can like it or hate it and replace with proper leather one. The leather braid is glued to the hat. There are no product tag, but I have another Aussie style hat which product tag proudly say "made in Pakistan" and this one uses the suspiciously similar slogan on the crown underside so I assume the the source is somewhere around :) However, in such case it is no secret that the inhabitants of Pakistan territory have a long tradition in the leather industry, especially in cowhides a bit longer than in Australia, so there is nothing to be ashamed of :) The golden print inside say proudly that it's made of steer hide, and I must say that I am really impressed with the quality of the leather, style of the hat, stitching and even the look of the braid.

I am very pleased with the quality of this hat, real leather, quality material and stitching. The size is perfect, I followed the measurement directions.
