I have all stainless steel appliances, so the appearance matches well. I have been pleased. It is nicely constructed. I like the removable insert. The lid also works very easily. I did initially find it hard to hold the lid open. However, after an email to the vendor, they explained that one needs to lift up on the lid as it is coming up, before it reaches past about 30-60 degrees open. Then one can pull it back to stay open very easily. If you use the foot pedal to fully open the lid, and then try to push it back to stay, it is very difficult. It comes with an odor-reducing filter which I suppose helps but is hard for me to judge. I have not noticed any odors with the lid closed. All in all, this is a very good product that looks good and functions well. I prefer to use larger trash bags that do not stretch tight around the insert. There is a little clearance around the edge of the insert for the top of the bag to fold over and down for a neat fit. However, I initially had problems getting the edge of the bag to stay put while I lowered the insert into the can. I easily solved this by getting some larger rubber bands. I now fold the top of the bag around the top of the insert, and wrap it with a large rubber band. This holds it in place as I lower the insert. I was very wary to have to shell out so much for a kitchen trash can, but I took advantage of a 'Used' one that gave me a $21 discount from the original price of $99.00, so I thought, "why not?". I'm so happy I had! Unlike my former 'round' step trash bin, this one is manufactured to utilize the entire bag (regular tall kitchen, 13 Gallon trash bags from GLAD) so longer time in between placing a 'full' bag of trash and less waste of tall kitchen trash bags. The 'Tuck and Hold' bag retention hole isn't necessary with a 13 Gallon bag, only good for larger than 13 gallon bags. The soft close is ideal, and I love the option of pushing the lid a little back to keep it open until I decide to close it. Also, the :iTouchless Active Carbon Filter Refill Pack (3-pack) is a nice touch (although I use Febreze lavender scented trash bags) but I find these carbon filters pricey at $20 for three, each only lasting 3 months. Still, ours came with 1 free carbon filter to try it out and it works really well--so well that it even eliminates the lavender scent of our bags!
