💾 Amazing Storage Capabilities!!! 💕
I find mine to be entirely necessary, since otherwise my poor desktop and low quality dumpster dived laptop computer wouldn't be able to handle the increasing amount of visual novel, otome, indie, rpg maker games, roms, emulators, etc. that I'm continuously amassing to the point of it bordering a hoard (fortunately enough it's a digital collection so it's not spilling over into my bedroom). I highly recommend this cause it's actually 2TB! (I previously tried purchasing a lower priced SSD from a different brand and it only showed as 1.5TB on my computer) when it comes to Samsung you're getting the full 2TB so you're getting your money's worth when it comes to this portable SSD! 💸🥹I'm not at all tech savvy, I grew up in an era where computers were boxes (you couldn't dial anyone on the super long corded phone without getting a horrendous screeching cause someone was using the computer) so it wasn't until I entered college that I started considering getting a portable SSD (beforehand I had used only floppy disks for storage 💾 or my Hello Kitty necklace that doubles as USB storage for my class assignments). 🐱📝My reasoning for getting this particular one is that I saw my tech savvy brother using the same one for his work (he's super smart with computers and is highly valued at his workplace because of his smarts) so I decided to do a monkey see monkey do and purchase the same variation he had. Most of my games are story based and don't require alot of specs to work *literally just pressing the space button or mouse is what makes up the majority of the gameplay to the vast majority of the games currently in it* and for my personal needs... the SSD has been holding up remarkably well. I've had it since the Spring of 2022, and at the moment it's already October in 2023. This year is coming to an end rather quickly already, at the moment I haven't been experiencing any issues like temperature 🌡️ irregularities *it never gets hot when I'm playing my games. Also, although I hate to admit it... I'm pretty clumsy/accident prone, and I've fumbled this thing onto the hard tile floor quite a bit. Even so, the SSD seems to be holding up well against my unintentional abuse, so I consider it to be quite durable! It doesn't weigh much, so I can carry it with me anywhere I need to go with it and it doesn't feel at all too heavy or hefty. 💁♀️

Very Good (with one caveat)
First, the case was not included. That was an extra purchase. Just to be clear it’s in the pics only because I highly recommend at least a small “EVA” case since it is light weight and probably wouldn’t hold up to being crushed or dropped. The case recommended was perfect. It’s a great drive. Good construction/ metal outer casing. Large capacity @ 2TB is perfect for 4k footage. Decent/ reasonable price. Good performance. Apx 500mbs synchronous. Fast enough to work with 4K prores on the go. Certainly the fastest external I have. See pics for screen grab. Very compact and easy to carry. However, it doesn’t like extension cables in the least. This is not a fault of the drive, just a fault of crappy and wildly different USB C standards. So far it seems to only work with the original cables. I had trouble even mounting the drive with cables other than the original. I’m using an Abelton USBC card on my Mac Pro and the Samsung seems to prefer the type A gen 2 port on one of my machines. On the other machine USBC is fine. They have slight differences. With a direct connection I get full speed. So far longer cables and adapter cables seem to crush the performance ranging from slow to slow as molasses. I’ll update when I find a better cable longer than 1-3 FT. In the mean time I’m ok with the short cable as long as I get full speed. The onlyOther gripe I have is purely aesthetic. I hate that the label with the serial/ model number and bar code is on the front of the drive. Ugly staring at it on my desk. Samsung please just laser etch it in next time.

So far, so good as a Mac user
I bought mine almost a year ago and both are running as expected. I’m not a nerd so I have no idea what’s fast and what’s not, but I almost never see a loading window for file transfers.I formatted both as one of the previous top reviews suggested and it works just fine. Everyone nicks off one star because of the stupid software and they should, but my experience has been largely flawless (because I have formatted the drives).I made both of them APFS encrypted. One is for time machine and the other is where you can put your cloud folder so that way if the drive dies you will have whatever is in the cloud folder. I put a bunch of offline files inside as well and back them up as needed.I have two right now and neither turned out fake. Be careful of the seller! Get in touch with Amazon if you have any concerns. Rate the seller, not the product for bad orders.Going to get another when the price drops again to $249 for the 2TB one. Cheers.Edit: Bought it for my brother - no problems thus far.Edit: at some point after my review one of my smaller drives became faulty because I was writing several gigabytes to it every day for macOS backups via CarbonCopyCloner. It’s probably not a great backup solution. I would recommend less frequent backups or backing up to a cheaper, mechanical hard drive, and then transfer that data to an SSD for a quick recovery.
