What are contacts rated for? Can it handle a solenoid that draws 500 mA?

This device has input only using 110v and doesn't have relays. This is good if you don't have direct wiring between 2 devices (ex. switch and light) and you can use it as a remote switch but you will need another device like Shelly Plus 1 which is a relay. Make sure you check the wiring diagram. Hope this helps

no, this is for inputs, not outputs

Does this work with Homekit?

Not out of the box. You have to flash it with HomeKit Accessory Architect. The Shelly app is pretty darn good by itself.
