Quiero a mi papa Porque (I Love My Daddy Because English / Spanishedition)

I'm a brand new daddy to an 8 month girl. Although she's too young to fully understand the words/story, I read it to her several times a week. I'm a native Spanish speaker, first generation born in the USA from immigrant parents. I've often heard that by the 3rd or 4th generation, one has fully assimilated into the new culture, thus effectively minimizing whatever cultural traits their ancestors passed down, most often including language. Spanish was the language spoken at home growing up and as children of immigrant parents do, I assimilated while retaining much of my parents culture. I made a personal commitment to further instill my parents culture that I grew up with to my daughter. This book is a small but useful tool in doing so. Not only does it do so in the obvious fashion of being in Spanish, but also with slight cultural cues in the importance of the paternal figure. In Latin culture, the father is both respected and loved dearly. This affection is strongly reflected in the book; I love my daddy because he protects me, I love my daddy because he plays with me, etc. I have highlighted the above, so those of you whom are native Spanish speakers take advantage of it as well.

we have both the mom and dad versions of this book. they are different. i was afraid the story would be the same in both but one says mom and one says dad. but there are different reasons to love mom and dad in each book. it is a board book so great for my toddler. we love that it has both languages so either my husband or i could read it to our son without having to buy 2 books as we do with so many others. we also like all the animals in the books. it tells you what each animal is called its baby version, e.g. cub. so you can use the book in a variety of ways with your child, e.g. read it, teach the animals or ask him/her to point animals out to you.

My kid loves this book. We have read it many times. Since my kid loves animals he is super engaged with the drawings in the book. Because we like it so much, we also got “Quiero a mi mamá porque…(I love my mommy because)”. The book is good quality, the translations are good and we read it in both languages. What a great way to motivate my kid to enjoy English and Spanish

I love this bilingual book so sometimes I read it in Spanish and other days in English. Pictures are very real and my kids are learning about animals. Excellent choice for bedtime story.

Whether or not you speak Spanish, this is a fantastic book for your baby! Each page has a description and an image of animals tenderly caring for their offspring, just like we do <3 It includes names for all of the animals, and even a message stating that the behaviors in the book have been documented in nature. Every word is printed clearly in English and Spanish. Bonus: I get a hug at the end of this book, every time. Check out the mommy version!

Las ilustraciones de este libro son hermosísimas y me encanta que todo lo que describen de la conducta paterna animal es auténtico, confirmado por expertos en la materia. Reseña animales poco comunes, ampliando el repertorio de nombres de animales de niños y adultos. El mensaje sobre el rol del padre y su aporte en la crianza es excelente.

This beautiful picture bilingual picture book includes various animal fathers and their young. The illustrations and most of the text is different from "Quiero a mi mama porque". All the animals are labeled in English and Spanish and their associated behaviors are accurate, as verified by animal experts. I understand what one baby prefere does not mean all will; my son enjoyed the pictures from 10-13 months, his current age. I enjoy that this book includes fathers, as I'm sure my husband does too, and that I am learning more Spanish.

Bought this story and I Love My Mommy Because... for a baby shower gift for a couple who will be raising their baby bilingual. The story is beautiful using animals in nature to describe all the things moms and dads do for their children. Having both languages will allow both parents to read to their new baby.

Dieses Buch hab ich für meinen spanischsprachigen Partner und unsere Tochter bestellt. Es enthält wunderschöne Zeichnungen mit liebevollen Texten. Unsere Tocher (12 Monate) bringt es uns jetzt schon immer, damit wir es vorlesen. Ich kann es nur weiterempfehlen, die Seiten sind dick und halten Kinderhände aus. Es ist wirklich schön gezeichnet/gemalt. Ich würde es für Babys ab 10 Monaten und Kleinkinder empfehlen.
